Quotes that you'd wish football announcers would stop using

"You have to give them a lot of credit"
reason why it's retarded: 1. The athlete/team can't do anything your credit. They can't buy anything with it. 2. The credit given is infinite. Announcer can give as much credit as he want to unlimited teams/players. This makes the credit have little to no value.
"He went up and got the ball at its highest point"
reason why it's retarded: 1. The football at its highest point is uncatchable by any player. The ball is on the way down when the receiver is jumping up to get it.

In some strange way, you're mixing up different meanings for the word credit. Announcers aren't referring to monetary credit when they say something like that. It's about recognition/respect.

These are 10x funnier when you read them with Mike Mayock's voice.

but the recognition and respect doesn't mean anything if it's so easily created on spot.
