anyone here work for AT&T?

I have AT&T high speed DSL at my current address. I'm about to move .3 miles north and AT&T is telling me they can't move my service because there are "no available ports". What frustrates me is at the house I'm moving to, my neighbors on each side of me have high speed DSL.
Can't they just freaking run a phone line to my new house and move my service?
I called the local office and they said to move service I have to call the 1-888 number.
AT&T has by far the worst customer service. Even worse than Dell.

Is it plugged in? Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?

Good luck. I signed on for uverse 6 months ago. They ran a temp line down my driveway then another 1000' to the junction box. The line was buried two weeks ago. Like clockwork every weekend either lawnmowers, edgers or weed eaters would cut it. I was then out of service for a few days. I'd call and from one rep to another for an hour at a time, complete cluster frick every week. Then come the weekend wash, rinse, repeat.
I will say though that I do like the unverse programming and pricing. I have the full tv package and Internet for 80/mo.

AT&T's customer service is 100 percent awful. That's the only drawback I have had with them. It is just about as easy to get the IRS on the phone than it is to speak with anyone meaningful at AT&T.

While AT&T customer service is on par with all layers of hell, it is entirely plausible that there are no available ports in your new area even if it is <.5 miles away.

AT&T sucks arse. Tried to change my phone number because of a crazy ex. They told me it was $35.
