Welp, this doesn’t sound promising. So much for that earlier update.
at this point I think he's been abducted and is stashed away at Area 51. hopefully those baws find him today

Looks like the KNVB is going all in on Dest. They reportedly are trying to meet him ‘as soon as possible’ to urge him to choose the Netherlands.
It was nice knowing you.

we should organize a protest

Fire up the F-16's and B-52's, that is an act of war by the Netherlands.

welp, that fricking sucks. i was hoping we'd be able to get him in under the radar, but that's not going to be the case.
props to him, and honestly his style of play is much more suited to playing with the netherlands than it is with the current USMNT.
i'm not sure what their situation is at fullback in the coming years, but i'm hoping that he will be good enough to play at the senior level for quite a while. it would really suck if he didn't feature for them much, knowing he could be a game changer for us.
Time to dust off my Some frick kit.
ETA: this also fricking sucks because i'd been having a lot of fun watching him play with ajax. Now it's going to be too painful to watch him make beautiful moves and think about what could've been.

Everyone is assuming we lose him. I am holding out hope still. Maybe a 20% chance we keep him. I know he is grateful for us for giving him a look when the Netherlands didn’t. And if we lose him yeah it sucks but Bello and Gloster are both solid prospects at LB and after all Dest has lived his entire life in the Netherlands.

absolutely, i won't blame him one bit. He's a dutch boy. when your home country wants you, you go. unlike pieces of shite like gonzalez and rossi.

i’m too lazy to google but where are the Dutch depth wise with wing backs?

Just from reading comments from Dutch fans on reddit, his position is somewhat up for grabs.
A whole lot of positivity on them pursuing him.

Not here. It’s his position.

While I'm all for having dual nationals (best players from anywhere) play for the USMNT, we need to fix the main problem. The problem is that we are forced to look for dual nationals because we cannot develop the talent and depth from US nationals alone. The progress of US soccer has been painfully slow over the last 3 + decades in my opinion.
If Dest wants to play for the Dutch, my feelings and opinions have no bearing on him. Good riddance!

Charlie Kelman got the start for Southend United today against MK Dons and scored in the 4'. His first League One goal of the season. His grandfather died on Thursday. If the 1-0 score holds, it will be Southend's first win of the season.

Sargent is starting for WB since he's about the only healthy striker on the team.

Future USMNT
@FutureUsmnt
US-U17 international Jonathan Tomkinson made his debut for Norwich City's U23 side yesterday, coming on in the 73rd minute of a 2-0 loss to Stoke City. Tomkinson has been a regular with Norwich's U18s, and could also feature in the U17 World Cup next month for the US.

Sargent far too often goes through long stretches of being completely invisible.
Posted on 9/21/19 at 3:13 pm to pvilleguru
Maybe it is just my wrong observation, but it does not seem like Sargent is working hard enough when the other team has the ball.

I agree with you about pressing as a unit, but it appears to me that the other "forward" players are putting in a better effort than Sargent.
