Doyle was just protecting himself.
As other's have mentioned, the witness stated he was backing away.
The article also mentions that 3 of the shots were in the back. You're not being threatened if you shoot someone in the back (unless you think they're about to donkey kick you).

Did you miss this part of the article?
No. I saw that. I would need more details to determine the credibility of that statement/witness.

I posted the story ya frick tard.
If I'm being followed by some moron and he comes to my house. I would whip his arse, not shoot him. But I would protect myself just like any other MAN would do

From the facts in the story, I wouldn't charge Doyle with murder.
Really? I think he's lucky he wasn't charged with 1st degree given the 911 call. But from the facts, it sounds like at least 2nd degree murder to me.

How about the 911 calls?

Florida law brah. It's called "standing your ground". You don't all of a sudden stop standing your ground just because some pussy is backing away. Justified shooting, open and shut.

all doyle would have had to do was stay in his vehicle and fire the shoys when gonzalez came to his door/window and he wouldnt have a single charge against him. Getting out and being the aggressor is what got him

And you apparently didn't read it. But props on the aggression. You seem to have a lot in common with the shooter.

THREE TIMES IN THE BACK
Not dispositive, but strongly favors the prosecution, IMHO.
At a certain point, if lethal force was justified at the beginning of the encounter, the threat was not necessarily eliminated by orientation change.
However, it is powerful circumstantial evidence that the justification for lethal force was gone at that point, particularly the 2nd and 3rd shot.
But, that's just my take from all the way over here in Louisiana.
On the other hand - anyone who comes onto my property in an aggressive posture, I must assume has bad intentions and the means to carry them out - I might shoot first and ask questions later under similar circumstances. Just as likely I lock the doors and wait for the cops, though. If he breaches the door - I'm confident I can beat that rap in front of a jury.

Well considering Doyle is facing a Murder 2 charge, I'd say that statement/witness is pretty credible. Unless you've got some facts that refute what the police on the scene found.

You're the second person is 12 hours to want to meet me in person. Some people can't handle the internet apparently.

Stand your ground states that YOU don't have to retreat when faced with a threat. It doesn't say that if your "threat" retreats you can still shoot him.
The guy w/o a gun was backing away... guy w/ a gun still shot him. That has nothing to do w/ stand your ground laws.
Also, this is damning in itself:
quote:
"There's an entry wound to the chest and there's three entry wounds to the back," said Capt. David DeCarlo of the sheriff's office.

One word describes the situation completely:

Well this thread is quickly spiraling out of control.

You gonna shoot him in the back?

I'll be honest, listening to the 911 call from her was chilling...
Posted on 7/27/15 at 10:06 am to TopHog1
Murder is a bit much considering Gonzalez followed the man home and approached him on his property. Manslaughter all the way

Doyle is fricked. Even though he may have been justified, the climate right now is against white people. The news will probably portray him as a racist since it was a Hispanic male that it happened to. This should be an example for all parties as what not to do. My prayers go out to both of their families
