He's always been a good coach. Mainly the other teams aren't as good. No evangel, meh Shaw, WM has been down lately. Private school division less competition.
When I saw he's lost to some all time great teams in the playoffs, I mean it. Even the st Aug team in 2000. Their last truly relevant team. Loaded with college signees

Rummel lost to Shaw in 2000...

1999 then. Whatever team that had Akeem jolla and Michael Franklin

What we'll never know about 2012... does West Monroe play Rummel better than what Barbe did? 2013 it's safe to say Acadiana was the true 5a champion, they would have beat Rummel. 2014 it would have been Rummel if they closed the deal, but I think Jesuit would have beat Acadiana

Both teams had Jolla and Franklin. It was 99 that we beat rummel. Then we lost to catholic in the quarters.

U can't count a walk on just bc of his productivity. Rummel and Jesuit are notorious for walk ons. Negative nope u can't have em.

If they would have played during the regular season then yes, they definitely would have won. In the playoffs? Probably not.

Jesuit had perfect d line scheme to break the veer

WM beat the shite out of Barbe for roughly 45 minutes and then just completely shite the bed. Rushed for something absurd like 550-600 yards. Was up 48-21 with less than 5 minutes to go. The coaches came down from the box, the game was over... Then implosion...

John Curtis' veer isn't close to being the same thing. But seeing how Acadianas defense played lights out in the playoffs holding arguably the top 3 offenses in the state to 38 points total, they wouldn't have had to score much anyway. I just don't see Jesuit doing any better than Destrehan, Zachary, or Ponchatoula. All three of those teams were probably saying the same thing.

I think WM vs Acadiana would have been a 7-3 type game.

It might have been. They had their chance though. I am tired of playing the "if they would have played" game. They need to make 5-A back the way it was. Surely these catholic league teams aren't that much better than before the split? Most of the time they couldn't sniff the dome. They got theirs right before the split And now we are wondering if Jesuit would have beaten Acadiana. Its a shame we won't ever know for sure. Much prefered it before the split. There's no need for it. Makes more sense for the smaller classes than 5-A.

he earned a scholarship, so i'll count him. And had 3 Letters, and won a national title. More than most St Aug players in the last 20 years.

I doubt it. Acadiana really ratchets it up in the playoffs.

I think 25 years without a state title proved split was not about 5a catholic schools

Wait a second? Come on bruh we had 7-9 in 2001 alone. You don't want to compare that it literally might be 2 to 1 maybe 3 to 1. Dude counting walk ons lol.

Rummel was a perennial 1st or second round and out team. They decided hey we are going get some Westbank kids who would have otherwise went to Ehret or Shaw and finally made that leap. Roth ain't stupid.
Yep, I heard he is spending a lot more time on the westbank playgrounds these days.

in the hank era at shaw ... from 1983 - 2002 all but ONE player that started games at QB did not sign Letter of intent....
that's how much talent they had over that time frame...
Chase Fourcade just committed to play for the colonels...

10 d-1 players and couldn't win shite. Didn't even have someone to kick a damn extra point.
