Line play. This is where football games are won. Catholic's lines last year were not good.

Catholic has only choked one year in the playoffs in terms of having a chance to win. 2006. The Travis minor year no chance to beat Weat Monroe and tommy banks. And the Warick Dunn years Shaw was twice the size of CHS on the lines. All the other years Catholic has been a solid Semi final team that didnt have the size to beat the big public schools in 5a. What years do Yall say Catholic "choked" besides 2006?

CHS has had some great talent on the field over the years, as does West Monroe.

The difference between a West Monroe & a Catholic has been one thing and one thing only, superior coaching. I am not trying to be condescending but that what any sports comes down to.

Coach W seems to be a good man and a good coach. However, he could never win the 'big game' when it matters.

I have more than one time felt bad for him because he could never get over that hump.(many on this board may not feel the same.)

I am not trying to be down on him as a person, just stating the facts.

It ain't just coaching. Look at the D1 talent Weat Monroe puts out. A ton of lineman

Look at the talent Catholic puts out. A ton of skill position players

Those lineman used to eat Catholic alive. Vince Lombardi couldn't have coached them to a win.

Now 2006, was a true choke. Catholic had D1 lineman but a kicker who couldn't make an extra point against Acadiana in the semis

Catholic would have beaten WM in '96 had Weiner invented the spin 10 years earlier. True story.

They would have had a chance I guess. But that 96 game West Monroe and Tommy banks had over 300 lbs on Catholic

And that is by design.

The great teams, like West Monroe, Acadiana, John Curtis puts lots of time & effort into developing both their offensive & defensive lines.(Same can be said of college & pro).

The great football coaches will tell you that it all starts at the line of scrimmage.
If a team can win at the line of scrimmage, its going to be hard to beat them.

It is a head coaches responsibility to develop both the offensive and defensive lines.

Well that is false Major, Pendarvis, Lewis, and Ray were all d1 caliber QBs. Quarterback play isn't the reason

Weiner is a great guy, but I'm not sure he can spell football.

It's absurd how poorly coached CHS is.

This game still gives me nightmares. I was on that '06 team. Piss poor play-calling in the 4th quarter. Zone right 4 times in a row for the 2 minute drill. Patch (RB) was gassed after the second one. This is the game that made me stop caring about football. Sure I still played my senior year but it just wasn't the same.

It takes a special QB to execute the spin offense. Weiner hasn't had that since Ryan Lewis.

There will probably be a Weiner at Catholic for the next 20 years after Dale gives the keys to the bus to Neil.

Kinda like how the baseball team couldn't win one until Garidel left, despite having consistent D1 talent.
