I just can't fathom how some people think Catholic had the better team. West Monroe had 53 carries for 333 yards rushing That is the better team.

To be fair, it should have been 21-21 halfway though the 4th. We ran a fake fg/punt (can't remember which). Had a player hidden by the sidelines uncovered,
totally fooled WM.

Got called back for some bull shite procedure penalty though.

Maybe 3rd best. Not better than WM or Evangel for sure. It would be between Rummel.and Acadiana for 3rd best and I'm not even sure Rummel was better than Acadiana tbh.

Sure, no way to really tell. It was really a response to saying they were perennial 1st or 2nd round out, when I dont think they lost in the 1st or 2nd rd under Roth's tenure.

It's no knock on Roth that there were some serious powerhouse teams. He was winning district, making deep playoff runs, and sending kids to D1 schools every year.

Of course its not his fault. The Catholic league has great players spread out all over They're not the only show in town such as Evangel was. Once Calvary came in you could see that they didn't get the cream of the crop anymore and Parkway is keeping a lot of the talent they would have lost otherwise. And Byrd too. It's a lot more level up there now.

the thing is, it happened so gradually for them

early 00s they were getting blown away by Evangel except for that 7-5 game

then 06 they lose the semifinal in a classic, 7-0 to Sulphur

09 they finally break through and get to the Dome and West Monroe shows how far yet they still have to go

then they break through in 2012 and now we're putting Rummel in the same breath as Curtis

now their next goal is the national championship lol

The tired old argument that nola kids are no more spread out than kids in any other urban area....actually smaller number of football playing schools per capita than br

we also have more schools that will never matter in football... like the 1A district in Metairie that struggles just to field teams now, Grace King, Ben Franklin, etc.

Player never reported between the hashes, hence why he was uncovered and why you got the bull shite penalty

Catholic should have won that game

Minor returned the opening kickoff and ran a toss 67 yards for a TD. Other than that you had maybe a handful of first downs... MAYBE...

everyone in that district, heck, Division I, is within the top 50, but someone is going to place last and lose in round 1 whether they deserve it or not...

The scary part is, of the 96, 97, 98 WM teams, the 96 team may have been the least talented. Let that sink in for a tic.

No may have necessary, it was the least talented of the 3. Defense really grew up that year, but most came back for 97. Offense was pretty much Tommy and every once in a while throw it to Kenny King.

Honestly, we had Tommy and it rained every week of the playoffs. No one was beating us with that line and Tommy in the mud.

ETA: Shows had a heart attack and quadruple bypass after the 2nd round. Little extra motivation on top of everything.

Playcalling is the underlying thesis of this thread. The guy under center set a major college program passing records in his freshman year.

Perhaps. I was on the sideline and I know our coaches where pissed lol.

I still say it should have been 21-21 with about 4 minutes left.

Also, your pos fans where throwing bottles at us pre game.

So before Rummel won state are we sure they were better than Catholic?

Between 92 and 2006 CHS had:
A dome appearance
4 semi final losses to West Monroe
1 semi final loss to Evangel
1 Semi final loss to Acadiana
Countless quarter final losses

I think Catholic and Rummel were neck and neck wth possibly Catholic being more accomplished. Obviously with the state titles Rummel now has that honor
