Lost my 17 year old neighbor on one this past New Year's Eve. Beautiful girl and a passenger on one as well.

Several people on the WAFB Facebook page have said the driver was not drinking and passed the DUI test. Not sure why he was charged with vehicular homicde then.
Can any law experts clarify--does vehicular homicide mean you're under the influence and negligent homicide would just be causing the death of someone when no alcohol/drugs are involved?

I see unsepervised kids on these things all the time in my neighborhood. I have no idea why parents let them ride these things.
This.... I see some with 3 or 4 kids on the machines at the same time also

I hate 4 wheelers. Worked in PICU and saw more than my share.
Have been riding 3 wheelers and later 4 wheelers for 40 years and never even had a close call on one.
It's one of the safest things you can ride when driven properly, which is why you see kids on them all the time.
Probably need some type of age restriction and/or a training requirement eventually, which will require tax money to implement.

Yeah .. That guy was at a Fourth of July party and not drinking ..

I've driven many four-wheelers in my time .. They're not death machines .. You almost have to try to flip them .. Sounds like this guy flipped it in a ditch .. He either went off the road or was dumb enough to try and cross a ditch ..

You can tell the guy doesn't act his age.

I don't want to judge too quickly, but a quick look at his open FB page appears to indicate that he likes to party.
And it was the fourth ...

Damn, I have 17 mutual friends with the guy but I don't know him. Lots of friends are commenting on his FB page about the accident. Prayers going up for everyone involved. This won't be easy on anyone.

Very bad situation. I hope it was just an accident and something stupid wasn't going on.

Some people don't appreciate or understand the risks involved, especially with child. Some people think a 12 yr old would be old enough to get a little more risky on these vehicles.
Can't imagine the pain the family is going through. Thinking your kid is safe at the home of another.

I concur...If the driver was acting up then that makes it worse, obviously.

Apparently Mr. Tharpe appeared on CMT's Party Down South.
"Ryan 'Daddy' Richards, one of the show's stars, and his good friend Josh Tharpe, who recently appeared on two episodes, were the judges at a Splash bash and bikini contest at Pesacola's Castaway's Bar and Grill July 25 and 26-mere months after Richards and his fellow cast mates were virtually kicked out of the city."

Vain, posts selfie pics on Facebook, in his 30s selling used cars, tons of party pics with booze on his FB page .. We can all read between the lines here ...
Prayers and deepest sympathies go out to the family .. Horribly tragic ..

Yeah, the driver looks the part of someone that'll act crazy.

Yeah, after seeing that I definitely have a different opinion on what probably happened here.

Hopefully, at a minimum, he'll never produce offspring.

Do we all really have to tapdance around the fact that this guy is a perfect stereotype? They exist for a reason
