It's all about expectations really. If someone is viewing him as a superstar, well, they're likely to be disappointed. If one's expectations are realistic and take him for what he is, he'll be viewed as a good, successful major league baseball player.
When we're talking about cornerstone franchise players, the Carlos Correa and Kris Bryant immediately pops up to mind. Gallo doesn't fit in that category... and that's coming from a Joey Gallo fanboy.

Yeah, the kid strikes out a lot, but you do have to realize he is still only 21 years old. Most ballplayers that age are still in college or somewhere in the minors.
I mean he will still strike out a lot but I can see that number going down the longer he plays and the more he learns about his swing

People think he's struggling now. Just wait till his babip regresses to the norm
He may truly end up being a two outcome player

If he's lucky, he'll end up having a similar career to Ryan Howard. But the more likely scenario is he'll be Mark Reynolds 2.0.

He's overmatched in many at-bats, but he's also been facing some incredible pitchers this month.

He needs to be traded to the Astros.

I'm blown away that people are already writing this kid off. He has the most power in the game right now. He has to practice and hone that, but it will come. In 3-4 years he will be a .240 hitter hitting 35-40 homers and driving in 90+ for multiple years. Any GM in the league would take a potential 40 homer 100 RBI guy no matter the strikeouts or BA. I look at him a lot like Adam Dunn
