ETA: I bet the don't against my girlfriend on Saturday night, and the dealer said she better not find out you did that. She hit the point after 3 rolls, and she never knew I bet against her.

I play the Pass with odds. If the point is not 6 or 8, I play them also. My little "wasted" bet is to watch for about 4 "no field rolls" in a row and then throw a bet down on that. (No real logic behind that one, it just adds a little).

place 6 & 8 then power press when they hit

$6 six hits throw in a nickel and go to $18

$18 six hits throw in $3 and go to $42

$42 six hits collect a buck and go to $90. Then collect $105 a pop.

$10 (5 or 9) hits drop $1 and go to $25. That hits press all the way to $60 which pays $84 a pop

If you play sucker bets in the middle try parlaying if you're winning. Can make for a fun payout.

A lot of odd strategies here.

Passline with Odds, and 2 come bets with odds is my go-to conservative strategy. I'll also throw a $2 hardway on a 6 or 8 with plans of parlaying it if it hits. If it hits again then I turned $2 into $200.

I'm wondering about the strategy where the OP is playing the pass and DP at the same time, but he's wagering on the don'ts... The only thing I've heard like this is waiting until the point is established and then playing a don't come and a come. No odds until 3 rolls later and then putting odds on the come bets. Your minimizing the house advantage and the only way you lose on the 4 initial rolls is if a 12 is rolled. Tried this in college. It's a slow grind and the dealer looks at you like you're crazy but I did profit with it.

Why do people take this personally? I prefer to play the don't. There's a reason you get reverse odds on it.
I prefer to play the percentages. It isn't personal.

To the OP - Don't go to Florida. No live craps.

Any suggestions for where I can learn about craps rules and strategies?

Learn from someone.

And don't do it when the table is crowded.

First tip, keep your hands up when the dice are out.

I thought people were going to throw down at the craps table when a guy did this 2 times on back to back rollers.

This is my play. You OT mathematicians can tell me if it is right.

Play the pass line. Go max odds. Place a come bet every time a number is on. Go max odds on the number made on the come bet (if it is).

Craps has enormous volatility but a very low house edge. If your pimp roll is big enough, you can always play back to even when you dip low early. You just have to stand there long enough. Or you can get up real fast. Then you walk away at the first seven and go have a steak dinner. You just have to have the discipline.

This has worked for me for many years. At worst, I get to gamble with free drinks.

You can make a lot of money fast if the roller throws for a good bit. This is my go to strategy when I know the roller throws for a while.

Anyway, a lot of the time I play only the Don't Pass sometimes laying odds. Money seems to last the longest playing this way.

Playing the Don't Pass will not win you any friends at the table, and it can kill the mood at a table if you win money doing so.

As for betting strategies, the only one that makes sense is to not play since the house always has a mathematical advantage, and unlimited time. However, if you are going to play for entertainment value and you hope to win money, then the best strategy is to make bets that give the house minimum advantage. Craps is one of the simplest games to calculate the house's advantage due to its limited and predictable outcomes, roulette being another. Do the math and you will be able to discern the best strategy.

The problem is that the best strategy is not as entertaining as having no strategy and just going with the flow. Casinos know this and use it to their advantage.

16 or 17 inside, depending on the point.

54 or 52 across plus place bet for the point. After hitting 4 or 5 numbers, I'm playing with house money. That is when I start pressing a unit as each number hit.

I know nothing about craps, a pass line, or come bets but this sort of sounds like the way I like to gamble as I've usually had good discipline of getting out when I need to.

Is this a good beginner's strategy if I just learn what all of that means and how to explain what I want when I get to the table?

How much $$ do I need to come to the table with to get started? Real answer please (no baller here).

$10 bets with triple odds, I bring three grand.

You need a pretty thick roll and some free time to make this play.

I hit 4 of about 9-10 midnights in 2 hours or so at Ceasars a few Fridays ago. $5 on each of the hard ways treated me well too. Covered my trip.

Amen.

I usually set my acceptable loss max around $300-500/day before walking in. It's very rare I walk out because I hit my max.

Each separate come bet adds to your risk since you are at a mathematical disadvantage for each separate bet.
