Anyone else get sunspots(Tinea versicolor) every summer?

Every damn summer I end up getting these frickers. LINK
I sweat like a whore in church during the summer. When I was younger it was from playing sports and leaving sweaty clothes on throughout the day. Now I'm in and out of the heat all day for work and my undershirt will stay damp from sweat causing these bastards. How do I prevent this?

actually...I think it was described as some sort of fungus. it's been many years since I had it but I do remember many guys on our high school football team had it too.

Why is that? I had it years ago and it's better now. I used Selsun Blue or head and shoulders for treatment

I find that I skip a year or two sometimes. I've been getting them since I was 14-15 years old. I'm almost 35 now. How long does it take to outgrow?

Dandruff shampoo contains nizoral or ketoconazole(I think) which is one of the ways to treat sunspots.

I first got it bad around 11-12 yrs old (36 now). There is some prescription antifungal cream or oral pills that work great if it is bad. Since I live in north Texas now, it isn't as humid so I rarely see any spots. If I see any, I treat it with regular otc antifungal cream. Everyone has that fungus on their skin, but it only expresses on some people for reasons unknown.

I get it about once a year. I take the pills and it goes away. I've been to a few dermatologists and they've all said pretty much the same thing. It has gotten lighter over the years.

Use Selsun Blue with selenium. Put it on where you have the spots and let it dry. Then take a shower. Do this for a week or two and it should go away. Also Under Armour or similar shirts that breathe help too.

Nope. Despite my pasty and ultra-white complexion, I have enough drops of Cherokee to get bronze and prevent all the hassles of white people sun-problems. Except moles. So many moles.

This is the correct answer. And yes, it is caused by a fungus.

Those aren't sunspots.
It's a fungus from living in a humid climate.

Yes, wash area with Head and Shoulders shampoo (medicated).

this is a very effective treatment for tinea versicolor.
also make sure your 'sunspots' aren't Pityriasis alba, which is a very different condition than the fungus although they both can look alike.

Sorry, I stand corrected, it is Selsun Blue Medicated. My husband uses it, and it really does work!
