Eh, I misread the comment
I don't think they're top 10 of all time an was just wondering where people had em.

Fair enough. It's a pity to have missed them. Unless you like underdogs. They simply overwhelmed the vast majority of teams they played and barely broke a sweat in the post-season until the Sonics actually managed to give them a brief struggle for a couple games in the finals. But it was never in serious doubt.

I think it's tough because it's hard to compare teams across different eras. But who knows, I wouldn't say top 10

The 95-96 Bulls? Talk about scary good. That team was a monster.
They were very good but that 72 win regular season was inflated due to heavy expansion (6 new teams in a 7 year span) which included two new teams just that year alone in the Raptors & Grizzlies.

Like I remember vaguely wathing some of the jazz/bulls series. But I couldn't really tell you about the games until I watched them on youtube. My first real NBA memory is Michaels shot over Byron russell. Even though he totally pushed off

I get that argument, but I personally think it's overblown. For example, one of those teams was the Orlando Magic...the Shaq/Penny team that the Bulls swept easily in the conference finals. Some talent may have been spread around, but the heavyweights were still heavy.

I was in my mid teens & despite what many on this board would tell you, the series was highly competitive for most of the games.

He just wanted some space, man. He was a celebrity -- he was tired of people crowding him for autographs.
But, yeah, I have the same thing with the early Magic/Larry era, where I wish I could have been there to watch them. Youtube just isn't the same.

I don't know why people would argue that. Stockton and Malone gave the Bulls absolute fits quite frequently.
Even if part of it was because Stockton was as dirty a player as they come.

yea no doubt. they were the best team he had to beat

That team was talented but young. They weren't ready to take that next step & the playoff experience of the Bulls was just too much for them. Still though, the other newly formed teams were still pretty bad & that enabled to the Bulls to pad their win column. You have to remember that the Celtics & Pistons of the 80s/early 90s were old & by large part broken up then in the East.

Alright, this thread is confusing me. I'm gonna blame it on me being ignorant and bow out.
Even if you don't think Lebron is the GOAT, the numbers and performances make him a firm candidate for number 2. He's been to 6 Finals and 5 straight over the past five years. He's got so much Finals experience and so much control as a leader of the Cavs that they weren't coming in "nervous". They had nothing to lose anyway, really, if what everyone was saying about how the series would turn out.
The Warriors were a statistics machine, and they were untouchable during the regular season and most of the playoffs. They have nothing in the way of Finals experience, though, from the players up to the head coach (as a coach, that is). They came in nervous, and they probably didn't expect Cleveland to be as challenging as they were. Once Steph got more comfortable and the Cavs tiny rotation demolished them, the Warriors had a little leeway to make up for a few bad games early. That only happens, though, because the Cavs played like an 8 man roster with Lebron playing insane minutes.
Not that they aren't still a great team, but that inexperience almost ruined them. Let's go into a parallel universe where Cleveland scores and takes game 1, as well, instead of going into OT. Who wins the series? Cleveland. Not because they're the better team or GS isn't a great team. Inexperience in the Finals CLEARLY was an issue early in the series for the Warriors. Curry couldn't shoot and had people believing Dellavedova was the Great White Hope, Draymond Green was playing like he was trying make it up to Lebron for his tweets, and Lebron was rested enough to play balls to the wall.
Once the Warriors settled in and Lebron was running low, it wasn't ever going to end in anything but a Warriors title. As much as I wanted to see Lebron go Super Saiyan and pull it out, I knew they were done after game 4 once they let GS back in with their confidence in tow.
My entire point is that Golden State was always a great team (again, not necessarily Top 5 or whatever), but their inexperience and nerves almost put them too far back to get comfortable.

im not going to complain about when i came up in NBA history, in only my second season of being old enough to actually follow basketball, the lakers started their three peat with shaq and kobe. so in a way, i lucked out

Damn guys. My first NBA memory was Kobe's floater that Shaq slammed with one hand. I absolutely hated the NBA growing up though.
I was apparently a moron.
ETA: Meh, I was 10 when that happened. So I guess I was pretty young. I got interested in basketball pretty late compared to other sports though.

I'm going to be honest and concede it's been quite a few years, so I'd have to go back and refresh my memory of the general population of teams. The Pistons definitely weren't the Pistons that shut down the Bulls at the beginning of the decade, that much I will admit to remembering. Of course, I rather disliked them (I was young enough to see heroes and villains in pro sports and the Pistons of the Bad Boys era were definitely villains in my book) so I cheered any team that was able to finally put them in their "place".
