CJ will never get another penny of my money. I'd rather spend a couple dollars extra and go to Jims.

If you're looking for an 870 wingmaster in fairly used condition for between about 300 and 600, I know where you can get one.

I drive past both of them to go to Bowie, but would buy from Jim's before Hebert.

Bowie > Hebert > crackhead > Jims
In all reality, Internet every time though.

I always hear that they suck. Curious as to why. I have not gone to Bowies since Carson joined but my last visit to purchase a gun from Bowies was terrible and turned me off to them. I do plan on giving them a chance at redemption.

curious as to how many people come in not knowing what they want
everything ive ever bought from a gun shop i just went in, pointed at it, paid and left
i realize there is knowledge behind the counter but i have to believe most people do at least some research before they go in?

I bought a franchI from him, had problems cycling. Told me they would fix it and never got around to it. Kept giving me dates and never met them. I had enough and emailed Beretta. They got the gun from CJ and worked on it. Ended up they couldn't fix it either, so they refunded me my money.
But a buddy of mine worked there for a while so I used to spend some time in there checking new stuff out. The best way to put it is that CJ is a buffoon. It is amazing that he has been successful in business.
I used to work at Bowits selling guns. I think it's a pretty good spot to buy one. While I was there the prices were pretty good, everything was pretty much marked up 15% across the board. Cheaper than anyone but Academy most of the time.
I go to Jims because I like the store and it's convenient. Sometimes you get someone who is really helpful and other times you get someone who isn't as motivated. I could certainly see why someone wouldn't want to go there.

The few times I've gone in there I have asked to see a gun, and before the key makes it to the lock or before they could even turn around to grab a rifle off the shelf they're already pushing something else saying it's "junk" Another time I went in looking to see if they carried Vortex scopes before Vortex really started to make a name for themselves. The guy behind the counter said "If we don't carry it, it's not worth mounting." The prices on guns there aren't terrible, but everything else is ridiculous. Those are my experiences with Hebert.

There was a classic thread on Bayou Shooter a few (2-3 ?) years ago. Started w/ a story about Hebert not taking back a defective RDS or laser optic. Dozens of people chimed in to describe their own experiences.

I wish more people were like you you're underestimating the intelligence of the average person. People are retarded. Im like you in that I have 3 narrowed down before going in, but we're definitely in the minority. I gets guys all the time that ask me what "state of residence" means on the 4473. I can kinda see why gun shops can have dicks for employees because it does wear on you. Fortunately for Bowie's, we have just 3 counter guys in the gun dept and we all have a good amount of patience. Only time I'll be a dick is when people are incessantly rude or aggressive.

This is true. Our prices are lower than any other local shop. Only time we get beat is by big box stores on stuff like savages

One guy told me he went in and asked for an A5 in Bottomlands and the Hebert guys proceeded to tell him it was the shittiest camo. Guy said he didn't even say anything, just turned around and left and came to Bowie's.
Dawg, I think the BS thread was whacked. Can't find it. Guys on arfcom with stories too, though

what happened?
Brother wanted to buy me a CZ455. The guy said that my brother cant do that. I said it is a gift which he can do. He said no. Next to us was a dad buying a Beretta Xtrema for his daughter. I pointed it out. He said I need to leave. I said ok.
