Chris Coghlan has the new active games played steak. If they squeeze KS out there then there goes the streak!

I expect him to be a september call up. But I don't expect, nor would i advocate for, leaving him up right now. That would stunt his development.

I disagree slightly here. I think the FO has mentioned that if they think a guy can help the team win then they would definitely bring him up in order to help the ball club make a playoff run. I think it is pretty obvious that we are going to be in the running for a playoff spot at the end of this season. Especially with how much better the bullpen has gotten and now Neil Ramirez will be back soon. Even if that player has to move to a different position temporarily. They will do whatever it takes to makes the playoffs if they have that chance.
The key word there is temporary. But how temporary is Kyle Schwarber IF he gets promoted...say after the All Star break...and hits .270 with some good power? Then do the Cubs send him down next season and say okay, forget about last year and work on your catching game while we do the same thing we did last year?

I don't have the answer.

yea, he played a lot of OF last year.

Im still not buying the notion he'll stay at catcher. The way he has hit even in just 2 games, will make them force their hand

I never said that Montero is the problem. I am just saying that if Schwarber is ready defensively, then let's ship out Montero for pitching. We don't need both at catcher. Both are too good to come off the bench.

If Lester and Ross were not butt buddies, then Wellington Castillo would have been the perfect backup.

Nobody is going to give any decent pitcher up for Montero and that contract. Schwarber is nowhere near ready to catch in the bigs from what I understand.

I assume you are talking about the Castro play? I didn't see the game but the ESPN alert said something like "Rizzo homers twice, Castro commits error, sulks and allows another run to score in Cubs loss." After I saw the highlights I would say that was pretty accurate.

That went from a double play to a 2 run error.

Terrible play. Embarrassing play last night

But it is funny and convenient how you weren't posting when Castro had back to back walk off singles just last week.

I like him too. That was just a terrible play. Hopefully he uses it as a learning experience and continues to work on his D.

Annnnd he gets the game winning hit today giving him three game winning hits in the last 9 days.

Also made a really nice leaping catch to end the game.

Lester might be quiet for a little bit. We can only hope anyway.

Talent has never a question, he has it. that's what is so frustrating with him. He seems to lack the focus and want to it takes to take advantage of that talent. It's a shame.
