This was only through 4 games, they put that stat up early in the game last night.

Did I read correctly that he has 91 in these playoffs to Kerr's 84 for his career?

No shite. It was a completely different era. Let's compare QBs from 1980 to today while we're at it.

He's put up 221 3's and made 95 of them thus far.

Pretty scary stat. Of course, Kerr didn't play the kind of minutes that Curry did to my recollection, but to my childhood mind, Kerr didn't seem to miss much either. Good lord.

Accuracy is accuracy.

It is a cool stat, but really doesn't mean anything. I doubt the 3 pt shot was as major of a weapon then as it is now.

the NBA didnt add the 3 point line until 1979 and various college conferences didn't add it until the mid 80s.
its not like there were a ton of guys shooting them back then.

It was literally the first year that it was allowed. Players didn't even practice it before and the offenses weren't tailored to it.

This stat is the same as stating that Peyton Manning threw more touchdowns in the 2014 season than every football team that played the year the forward pass was just invented.
Not that I have any idea if that is true, but I wouldn't be surprised.

People made shots from 3-point distance before a line was put on the floor awarding teams 3 points instead of 2.
With your analogy, passes were not thrown at all prior to the forward pass being legal.

Ok, fine, so it wasn't a perfect analogy, but despite its cool factor, I still contend that the OP's stat doesn't mean much.

Whats I find funny is that most people identify with Larry Bird as this 3 point assassin. Well in 164 total playoff games (two seasons worth) he only shot 249 threes and made only 80 for 32%. The game was totally different back then.

I agree with you. The 3 point like was a complete unknown.
