I'd deemphasize the "uh," but that's pretty much it. You a coonass?

The one that confuses me is Guillot. In New Orleans it's Gill-yot but in other places I've heard Gee-yot or Gee-yo.

I'm gonna call bs and tell you you've never met anyone from Lafourche (Lafoosh)
And for the earlier poster, Derouen is Da-ruin

your answer, while I understand an answer is not what you were seeking, is that the "folk" who use pronunciations like "Tray-han" and Pee-Tree, ceased being Cajun some time ago, and are only remnants of a time when their family actually was Cajun. no different than people with Irish heritage, English heritage, etc.

Good answer. I'd give you two up votes if I could.

I have literally never heard a soul say Tray-han here in my life.

Some people have "Englishized" the pronunciation. Others have kept the French pronunciation.

How about Richard?
Clement?

I'm just glad I have a French last name that hasn't really been butchered by these rednecks, yet. Oddly enough, it's not "cajun", but is French.

I've never heard that one before, but I'm gonna guess Row
