Very happy for Bregs. I don't think he is a MLB SS but could be a very good 2nd baseman.
Hopefully this is now behind him and he focus on Omaha 100%

The Astros reduced their offer after a physical revealed an abnormality with Aiken's elbow. And they were justified in part when Aiken's UCL tore earlier this year. If there were pre-draft physicals, the Astros would have seen this abnormality and probably would not have drafted him.
If anything, Aiken's agent should have gotten more scrutiny for the way he fricked Jacob Nix by packaging Aiken and Nix as a tandem. Nix was gonna get seven figures as a fifth-round pick, but got screwed out of it because the agent wouldn't budge from the Astros pre-physical offer to Aiken.
The Astros lost Aiken's slot value by not signing him, and thus reduced the budget they had to sign Nix. So take your easy-target blaming of the Astros, do a little research and put the blame where it belongs: on the agent for a conflict of interest.
All accurate...and Aiken apparently had issues with his Tommy John procedure, just like the Astros feared.

He comin back. No way Bregs settles for that plebeian money. If he shaves his eyelashes he'll be a shoe in for #1 pick next year

A-Rod went to third b/c of Jeter. There are no midget SS any longer in MLB (Jeter was b/t 6'2'' - 6'3''). IF he makes it he'll be a 2nd baseman, but he'll be lucky to not get jammed up in high A ball.
This is actually spot on but I see youve been downvoted quite a bit because we have alot of ignorant fans.

The Astros LOVE Bregman's bat. They'll worry about position later. Truthfully though, the club is overloaded with infielders. Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve are going to be major leaguers for a very long time. The club also has Tony Kemp the former Vanderbilt 2B who is leading AA in batting average and on base %. They have Kemp playing 2B and all the outfield positions. They also have Colin Moran a 2011 Top 5 pick of the Marlins at AA 3B and AJ Reed the former SEC player of the year tearing the cover off the ball at 1B.
IF Bregman is going to be a long term piece with the Astros, he probably will have to put perform Colin Moran and/or Tony Kemp. It is plausible that the Astros could move Correa to 3B to make room for Bregman or potentially trade Altuve if they think Bregman or Kemp is an adequate replacement. I have no doubt that Bregman will have a long major league career, even if it is not with the Astros.

Is Bregman the highest drafted position player in LSU baseball history?
I know Ben McDonald was the #1 overall pick but if I'm not mistaken Bregman is the highest position player, right?

quote:You know MLB baseball. The Stros most likely took Bregs as complete trade bait in the next year or so. Houston has a loaded young team, that maybe the favorites to win it all next year. What they are doing by taking Bregs is taking the best available player, in order to use him and other top prospects to trade for veteran players that can help them win instantly in the next few years.

Astros will use Bregman to land Bryce Harper or Miggy in 2 years.

Yes.

I guess it is safe to say he will be playing second base. Nothing wrong with this at all!!
Posted on 6/9/15 at 11:18 am to dnm3305
He's getting downvoted because he's wrong. There's quite a few starting shortstops in the mlb that are shorter than bregman. Jimmy Rollins is 5'7" and 36 years old and he's still starting. If bregman doesn't stick at SS, it will have 0 to do with his height.

nah, the real reason he's getting down voted is because
