Better Trilogy: Halo or Metroid Prime

Both of these trilogies had entries released in the same year, both had graphics that blew people's minds, and both have been critically praised. So which one is better? Personally, I'd go with the Prime series simply for how flawlessly it was adapted from it's 2D counterpart. Along with Zelda and Mario, it's really part of the holy trinity of games that have adapted well to 3-D environments. I think the environments are better in Metroid as well, but any sequence with the Flood in Halo I think is creepier than anything in Metroid. Plus I think I like adventure games more than shooters, and Metroid really is more of an adventure than a shooter game.
So which is your favorite?
So which is your favorite?

Halo invented the FPS genre, so Halo.

there are not enough 's in the world for you

There are also not enough face-palms, insults, or descriptive words to describe just how utterly dumb you are as well.

Oh yeah, I forgot Halo preceded Doom, Wolfstein 3D, Half-Life, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Medal of Honor, Quake, and Duke Nukem. You may as well be saying Star Wars invented the science fiction genre. Just bizarrely inaccurate.

Halo, and it's not close.

So how is talking out of your arse going?

Halo didn't invent the FPS genre, but it did take FPS MP to a whole new level.
Halo's impact on gaming far surpasses that of Metroid's.

Yet somehow Metroid is still the better trilogy; go figure.

Well, that's like your opinion man.

That's extremely debatable.
Its popularity sure did. Halo is far more derivative than it is influential, that's not necessarily a bad thing. What it perfected, it did it well. But I don't see, outside of a few unsuccessful shooters, Halo's legacy at all. CoD is more influential than Halo.

This is such a dumb debate. Metroid is not about multiplayer, and I know Halo has a campaign a lot of people like, but MP is what put it on the map.

But Halo invented the FPS genre

I agree. Yes, Halo did impact the shooter genre, but Metroid has an impact in video games that few can compete with. It's the first platformer to have an overarching world, and its tone is still alive and well today. I'm not going to pretend that Metroid Prime has been more influential than Halo itself, but the franchises as a whole, I'm going with Metroid.

Metroid Prime was so fun and innovative. I remember playing it as a kid along with the halo games and they were both really good.
Halo is a lot different from Metroid obviously in the sense that its a bit more rigid and realistic. Both protagonists are virtually unstoppable and both are insanely overpowered at times. Halo has always had a bigger budget than the Metroid series and is an American made franchise. They both have great and riveting stories. I think Halo beats out Metroid in the story and complexity part of it, but I think Samus as a whole, character and weapon wise, beats out Master Chief.
I prefer the Metroid games though for the sheer fact that they were never really mission based and the cinematics and what not was kept at a minimum. Even though I'm a bit young, I'm all about some old school elements if it calls for it. I guess you could say that Halo is more "epic" and Metroid is more...."fascinating."
