The whole thing is really sad. It definitely comes across as insecure. They are so obsessed with the name, as if sounding more important will make them more important, rather than focusing on winning and academics. Also, why are they so embarrassed to be associated with Lafayette? I understand, if they were head and shoulders above all other Louisiana schools and were very competitive with LSU in most sports on a yearly basis, I think more people would support it. But to be pushing so hard for it when they haven't really earned it yet just comes across as small and fosters ridicule rather than support.
Funny thing is, they keep asking why everyone else cares so much about their name when it is they who are so obsessed. Blame "big brother" for holding them down when there's nothing really stopping them from accomplishing their goals. "If only we could change our name, we'd be legit!"
I'm a real fan of ULL. They have a damn fine baseball program, and they had LSU squirming in both games. They deserve respect. However, the whole name thing just detracts from that.

If they want to go by just UL then they need to have UL Monroe change their name because that is the only way to differentiate between the two schools.

It's pathetic to see from a distance.
What I find interesting is that the "UL Lafayette" moniker is very catchy and fairly unique across the NCAA. People would naturally remember that over time. Instead, they want to use "Louisiana" in the hope that people will confuse them with the LSU.

I really dont get why they hate being called ULL. If ULM didnt exist then fine, take UL, but sorry, you're no different then they are. If they kept ULM it would look like they are a satellite school of you guys and they aren't.
On top of that, why wouldn't they want to be called ULL? That's a unique name and nobody will ever confuse you with the other UL who has the same colors...
ULL is a unique brand, UL just looks like you're trying to be Louisville.

We could have been up by 3-4+ runs. Then I don't think they would have had that 4 run top of the 8th with the lead we could have had.
