Detrell Scott pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Tuesday morning, the day jury selection was scheduled to continue for his trial in the killing of Kye Boudreaux at a hunting camp in Iberville Parish.
Sheriff Brett Stassi described the scene of the murder as "horrendous."

A second-degree murder conviction in Louisiana carries a mandatory life sentence without the possibility for probation or parole.

Scott, 23, of Plaquemine, was charged with second-degree murder and armed robbery in the death of Boudreaux, 26, also of Plaquemine. Boudreaux was found shot to death at a camp in Iberville Parish.
Stassi said Boudreaux's body was found at a camp off Grand River in Plaquemine on May 7, 2014. Detectives added Boudreaux had been shot in the head. Scott was arrested the same afternoon. Stassi said the two knew each other.

I wonder why they didn't charge him with capital murder since it was a robbery.
I always thought the details of the story were somewhat lacking. Those two don't seem like they'd know each other.

I remember the thread about this last year. As with OT tradition, people were claiming this was a drug deal gone bad.
It does seem like an odd murder. You don't hear much about thugs murdering people at hunting camps...

We get to subsidize this worthless lump for the rest of his life, shelter, 3 squares and health care for the next ~50 years amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars when the whole ordeal could already be over for the cost of fractions of a penny.
