If I beat either one, I would have said this as they walked off the stage:

My word was "teratological" back in 2002. Missed it by one letter

How many black contestants have there been not from Jamaica? Serious question. The Jamaicans fricking kill it normally

Someone should walk in front of Gokul, every time he enters a room, blasting "Mercy" on a boombox. I have no problem with taxpayer dollars going to fund this person's salary.

I fricking hated the Jamaican girl that was in my Bee. Obese and lucky. Got the word "stratagem" in a round when words like "legerdemain" were flying, and her whole cheering section erupts in flags and hollers like she won the whole thing
Not sure how many other black contestants there were or usually are, tbh. Small percentage. I only met one other black girl, but I'm sure there were others. Kind of hard to remember now. It was 13 years ago, and I was 13 at the time.

Not my most fashion forward days, I'm afraid
The Bee is a great experience, though. They wine/dine the contestants the first couple of days, have two days of competition, then party on Friday. Good times

Not a ton of hipsters in Central Missouri, but if you ever go to Columbia, definitely wear that shirt to Rag Tag. You will get a lovely girl with poetry tattooed on her rib cage to go back to your hotel.

Missed the word "fulsomely". Thought it had two Ls.
SMH.
Funniest story I have heard was from a high school friend, who went to school in Texas. He got the word "thorough", which he knew how to spell, but the proctor was form West Texas, and pronounced it "thurr-uh". He, of course, missed it.
