The no extradition relates to bank crimes. The article said this falls under general crimes so they can extradite.
Nice, ok thanks

So does this mean the USA is a lock for hosting the next World Cup that is up to bid?
If nothing comes out of this, I would be more worried that it is a lock that we will never host again and this guy will be our ref for every game until the end of time:

You mean the Swiss? They were in Zurich, not Stockholm.

We are getting them for bribes and corruction out of CONCACAF and CONMEBOL (CONCACAF's headquarters are in Miami). The Swiss are getting them for bribes for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

And internationally FIFA is not well-liked so I don't think America will come out looking bad in this.
Their rampant corruption is well known. This Qatar shite is absurd.

The FIFA officials appeared to have walked into a trap set by U.S. and Swiss authorities. The arrests were made at dawn at a plush Zurich hotel, the Baur au Lac, where FIFA officials are staying ahead of a vote this week where they are expected to anoint Blatter for a fifth term in office. Suites at the hotel cost up to $4,000 a night.
That's pretty funny.

There have been some really bad human rights violations for workers in Qatar with these new stadiums being built.
I hope that becomes part of this somehow.

The indictments focus on dealings within CONCACAF (which is headquartered in Miami) regarding bribery and other money-related charges that were facilitated through US bank accounts.

the Qatar games are going to be a disaster.
Maybe the players will see the corruption and the human rights violations and declare their own boycott. get enough of the best players in the world to say that and then we can either replace the FIFA sanction World Cup with another one, or force their hand...

We are pleased to see that the investigation is being energetically pursued for the good of football, and believe that it will help to reinforce measures that FIFA has already taken.
