Senior moment- but she remembered

There was a special moment in yesterday's Super Regional softball game. In the seventh inning Coach Torina sent senior Dylan Supak up to pinch hit an opportunity for one last at bat in her final home game. Just like the magic that always seemed to flow from Skip Bertman's decisions, this one also had a magical result as Supak singled and drove in a run.
You better believe this moment was not lost on the team and will further strengthen the bond the team and coach and her staff have formed. In all of the pressure of the moment as they sought to close out the win coach Torina remembered to reward a senior who has put team first and remained ready when called upon instead of pouting that someone else has taken her position. Welll played by all.

Thanks for bringing this up! It's so sweet knowing how the LSU Softball coaches and players embrace the team concept.

Not that I disagree with you, or truly think what I'm about to say is in anyway a fact. It was an awesome moment and I cheered at my tv for it and throughout the game. Just playing devil's advocate, but....
By that same token, do you think the team also noticed that she didn't give the other remaining senior, Kailey McCasland, any playing time in her last game at home? I mean, if one is a positive, then the other has to be a negative...right? Granted Supak did have a larger role on the team in the past than McCasland had.
Like I said, just playing devil's advocate. I'm sure everyone in that dugout, including the coaching staff, are pulled together and on the same page.

Valid point, probably went on prior playing time and not wanting to totally place sentiment above best chance to win. Somehow I believe in the group think McCasland was really happy for Supak's moment.

Oh, I'm sure everyone was pumped. I really was just playing devil's advocate there. That team definitely seems to live by their motto of "power of 1." I mean, just look at the way Quinn has been playing even though she lost her spot out in the field.

It is also obvious this team has regained its swagger. Hanging together and rallying to win last weekend lifted the pressure from the team and they once again believe they cannot be stopped.
What was really impressive was the offensive explosion with minimal contributions from Bell and Kloss and a little more from Jaquish. The bottom half of the lineup led the way. If they can get the middle of the lineup going this will again be a scary team.

Why bring the devil in on the discussion? ??

I was glad she got the opportunity. I really love when coaches give "program players" an at bat at the end of the game. Shows respect for what the player has done for the program. Seems like more often than not, they come through with a basehit or a positive play.

It is always impressive when a good player who starts early in her career does not transfer after being replaced in the lineup when better players are recruited.
She was a also honored with the NCAA Elite 89 Award which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 89 championships.
She maintained a 4.0 grade point average and received her degree earlier this month.
No wonder she is so well respected by the coaches and teammates.
