Said no one ever.
I moved from Baton Rouge to the suburbs of Spokane and let me tell you- the lack of diversity is the most awesome thing I've ever experienced. I can wash my car without having someone's speakers from the next bay rattle my fillings, people are super polite and the fast food restaurants are staffed by clean cut 17 year olds that don't frick up your order or hate their lives so much that it oozes from their pores.
Come to the PNW. Bet you'll want to stay forever. PS- it's 75 degrees with no humidity most summer days.

Booshite,
I was only there 12 days and I saw 2. I seen't em.....
There are at least 2 black people on Boise.

Grew up in Spokane and played on The Blue in Boise. What these people are saying is true.
I'd swing through Boise if you have the time. Drink beer, float the river, enjoy the weather, bang some college chicks...

Boise is almost as big as Baton Rouge yet it usually has less than 5 murders per year.
Has a pretty backdrop:
Cool parks:
It seems that for some reason their school system isn't that great, in spite of having good demographics. That's too bad. Boise should try and be the next Denver, Portland or Austin.

It's a pretty good college town, the Mormon influence is noticable, very clean, everybody's employed, winters are cold but not miserable, summer has some hot weather but not smothering, beautiful area, the wind blows A LOT, food's bland, culture's bland, everybody likes it, nobody hates it, i never found anybody who loved it. It's a perfect example of pretty good. That was my personal impression, which is the same everywhere from the Arches up to the Canadian border.

I'd imagine most Boise residents would rather not become the next Denver, Portland, or Austin. It'd be a completely different city.

Boise residents would complain but the state overall would probably like having a popular and hip city to anchor their state and to provide a significant tech presence/jobs (and revenue). There's plenty of room in Idaho. A lot of it depends on how good Boise State is, which I have no idea.
eta: actually, you know what. I think you have a good point.

Denver doesn't even want to become Portland or Austin. Not sure why it got lumped in with those two...

Because they're both magnets for creative and young professional people. I didn't say they were the same. Don't get butt hurt.

Looks nice, just too remote and far from the east coast IMO.

It sounds like this board's idea of paradise.

Boise is really nice and a drive up to Sun Valley is sweet. Love that area. Clean air, blondes all over, low cost of living and some spectacular sceneries. If it wasn't so far from my family I would pick up and retire there.

It is awfully isolated, which wouldn't be an issue if it were a major city.
Sometimes we forget how expansive it is out west.

this to me is a huge deal. those of us who live in the south are spoiled to where we can go hiking, be on a beach, or just about anywhere in a 3/4 hour drive.
it gets pretty lonely in those west US cities.

A Friend of mine got his degree in Agriculture Economics and Business. Got a job with some Big Ag company in the PNW.
Does a lot of work in Eastern Washington and Idaho.
He said it's awesome and that the Waterfowl hunting is unbelievably awesome.
Side note: He claims Boise is great.

have lived all around the country(work) am at a point in life I can live were ever I wish, I have chosen the Boise area, love it here.
4 seasons, no humidity, low cost of living, low crime, clean, and most don't believe it when I tell them but there is more to do here then all of the big city's I have lived in over the past 50 years.
