Best way to not get shot while making large cash transaction

Looking at buying an off road vehicle. I was planning on paying in cash, seller requested cash as well. Nervous me now thinks I'm going to get killed or worse. I know the obvious ob answer will probably be nothing less than open carry. That's all fine and good but I want to mitigate as much risk as possible.
I'm thinking about bringing a cashiers check for close to the amount and several hundred to reach our final agreed upon price. Test drive and what not then if we strike a deal, go to a local bank or check cashing place, cash it myself, then hand it over.
Any better ideas?
Thank you my ob brethren.

Have somebody on standby weapon.

Friends don't let friends make large cash transactions without packing some heat.

Meet in the closest police station parking lot.
I tell this to anyone that risks buying or selling items through Craigslist.

Is that worth your safety?

Obviously not, but it's worth what I'm potentially paying for this thing.
That's why I'm asking about rolling in with no or little money, make the deal, then go somewhere to secure cash.

why not do it at the title transfer office when he signs it over to you?

Just bring a cashiers check for the amount. basically sane as cash.

Have any friends that are cops in the area you are looking to purchase? If so have him meet you there.
I'd be sketchy about anyone asking for cash opposed to a cashiers check.

you won't get killed...but you might get ripped off...
my suggestion would be that you go to wherever the vehicle is to try it out..
if you like it and agree to purchase, he follows you to your bank where you withdraw the cash and hand it to him...you will need a notary anyway for any paperwork and your bank will have one...

Transaction taking place 3 hours from my house. I don't have a bank there, don't know anyone there.
Fwiw, walmarks cashes checks up to $5k which is more than I need.

This is the answer. Some local police departments have created Craig's list meeting rooms for the public to meet in for transactions.

Just have him park it n a Walmart parking lot the night before.
Meet there next day. Its public plus you can cold start the vehicle.
Take a friend who has acceses to a weapon readily available.
Start truck, drive truck, hand over cash, hope they Dont show up at your house later on looking for some loving.x
