A multi-agency manhunt is under way after a deputy was ambushed, beaten, and cut with a box cutter in Pearlington on Monday evening.
quote:
It was reported that the attack came during a traffic stop, but Adam said the car was already stopped and the driver was sitting inside a blue Lincoln Town Car with no lights on around 10 p.m. Monday. The deputy got out of his vehicle and went to check on the car, which had one person in it.
"When he got out, two other people came out of the woods right by the vehicle, and he backed up and fell, and it was on then," Adam said.
It is not clear yet if the attack was related to recent threats by gangs to attack police on sight, Adam said, "but at this point in time I don't care. This kind of attitude has been prevailing in Washington for the last six years and now it's coming home to roost and we're the targets."
quote:
"They roughed him up, but the officer was able to press a button and release his K-9 from the backseat," Adam said. The dog bit at least one of the suspects, potentially saving the officer's life, Adam said.
quote:
"We don't know how many he got, we just know he had blood all over him," Adam said.
The suspects fled in the Town Car. The deputy was taken to Hancock Medical Center where he was treated and released Tuesday morning. The K-9 was not injured.
At least one of the suspects will have serious dog bites and the suspects may have crossed into Louisiana.

I'm glad the LEO is OK (treated and released), but man, this is a weird story.

I dont see how someone can write "ambush" and "box cutter" in the same sentence in a news article and be serious about it.

I got to meet the friendliest police dog flying back from Montana. He liked scratches behind the ear.

Bass reports one suspect reached for the deputy's gun. Bass said the deputy's K9 may have saved his handler's life.
"He was able to press his button for his dog. The K9 was able to exit the vehicle and make contact with two of the three subjects and we believe they have been bitten by the K9 dog."
But the suspects managed to get away. Authorities report the trio, all described as black men, took off in a blue Lincoln Towncar with a dark colored top and custom rims.

My dad was a dog handler the first few years he was in the military.

Names were Gude Boi, Dindu Nuffin, and Wat Hoomi.
Also that police dog is clearly racist.

Whatever dude. Under Bush we never had to worry about thugs with box cutters.
