Depends on your field. I've considered it, but it would just be a personal accomplishment, it would do nothing for my career.

As bad as the legal job market has been, I'm not sure what I would be doing if I did not have an LLM. If you can make one of those schools work, I would do it.

The LLM might get you a higher entry salary, but after a few years of relevant professional experience it really has no value.

If you can get in, do it.

Also, choosing between the three, I'd probably go to Georgetown and work in DC a while afterward.

Do you turn down an opportunity to get an LLM in tax from NYU (#1), Georgetown (#2), or UF (#2)?

If you can't count to 3 maybe an LLM in taxation isn't the best idea.

I'd love to go back and get an LLM in Energy Management from UT, but it'll never happen unless I win the lottery. So yeah, go back before you have a mortgage and a family and whatnot.

One of my best friends just finished UF also, might be the same guy he is talking about idk. He mentioned to me that he felt like it was the same workload as his 3rd year of law school. He mentioned the 1st semester was harder than the 2nd. I think he really liked the fact that it was a highly respected school for the degree but it was way cheaper than NYU.

He passed his bar in between law school and LLM which really helped so he didn't have to study while in LLM classes. Also he got a job in the industry very early in the LLM program like first couple months. Thought the program was great at job placement within both industry jobs and Public Accounting Firms.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I will reach out to him.

Definitely go to NYU and get it. We have two NYU tax LLM guys in our office and they were outstanding right out of school. Great foundation and we pay well for NYU LLMs.
