Diego Costa wants to come back to Atlético. He has not settled in London and does not rule out taking a drop in salary.

The Spanish-Brazilian forward left Atlético in the summer of 2014. Chelsea paid his buy-out clause, quoted as being €36 million, in full. Despite the muscular problems he has been having over the past few months, his first season at Chelsea has been brilliant, ending up as one of the highest goalscorers in the Premier League, with 20 strikes from barely 26 games.

But although he has had a successful season with Mourinho and Co., Diego Costa is not happy at Chelsea. The problem is that he has not settled in London - the wet English climate, the language, the food.

All these are key factors in Costa having contacted the Atlético de Madrid board - with whom he enjoys an excellent relationship - with a view to coming home, to the club he joined at the age of 17 and where he was a big star by the age of 25.

The player is even prepared to take a drop in salary. When he went to Chelsea he earned double what he got at Atlético, almost €7 million per season net, and he knows full well that Atlético de Madrid cannot match that.

But there is another problem in that Chelsea's intentions, and those of their owner Roman Abramovich and José Mourinho, are not to let their star forward go. Mourinho knows he has a treasure in his hands, and, injuries apart, his performances will get even better.
