As one of the longest tenured members of the DAT, I vote we turn all of our hate/laughs towards the Texas Rangers.
Whats the Rangers fans opinion of Hamilton coming back? I haven't heard too much about it, honestly. Remember when he left, he more or less mentioned how they are bandwagon fans who only supported the Rangers once they became succesful and that the Dallas area only supports the Cowboys unconditionally. I remember the local Dallas media & fans running with it and bashing Hamilton pretty bad for saying that.
Edit:
Here was Hamilton's quote:
quote:
It’s one of those things where Texas, especially Dallas, has always been a football town. So the good with the bad is they’re supportive, but they also got a little spoiled, at the same time, pretty quickly. You can understand like a really true, true baseball town — and there are true baseball fans in Texas — but it’s not a true baseball town.
Not nearly as bad as I remember it. But I definitely remember the Rangers fans going ape shite over it. Is all forgiven now?

I'd have mixed feelings. On one hand, it's low risk and Hamilton is back where he succeeded. On the other, he bashed the fans, didn't seem to hold himself accountable during this latest incident (said Angels owner knew what he was getting, never apologized to team, fans, etc.), and carries a media circus. Not to mention, he'll be 34 this month, is injury prone and has already played his best ball.

The Era of Astros domination has begun. Get used to it.multiple championships and mvps for Correa and El scorpion

On paper it's a great deal for them. Basically paying nothing for a guy who still has some pop, even if he puts up the numbers he did last year with LA it's a net gain considering they are paying him like 2 mil a year and getting nothing from the guys they have at the ML level at that position
The X factor is how it impacts some of the younger guys as far as chemistry goes. Also, they aren't going to be able to just release him if he has more off the field issues without looking kind of shitty. I have zero sympathy for the Angels. They signed a known addict to a 125 million dollar contract and went nuts when he relapsed. I mean come on.

No more bashing other fans out of me.
Not sure if anyone else has considered - but for the first time in a Looooooooong time, the Astros have 3 legitmate all stars. With two others worthy of consideration:
Altuve
Marisnick
Keuchel
Also to consider:
McHugh
Harris

I think Altuve is pretty much a lock for the all star game, unfortunately I think Pedroia will probably win the fan vote to start because they will stuff the ballot vote.
We will see how much Marisnick eventually falls back. We all know he isn't going to hit 380 or probably even 330, but if he can hold it above 300 by the break he will absolutely deserve a spot
Keuchel will hopefully be in the mix to start.

I would question why the hate for Bryant,
No. Just the hype. I would take Bryant all day every day.

but you're hating on your own players on a 1st place team, so idk. Maybe Ryno can talk some sense into you
If you had Chris Carter on your team, you would understand.

It's a very low risk move for the Rangers. Given how awful the outfield is batting, he will almost certainly be an upgrade.

Only if he's successful.

Gattis weighs the same 230 that Roger Clemens did in his final years. More like 260.

You mean the votes at the stadium? They aren't doing that anymore. Strictly online now.

Detwiler is pitching tonight... Rangers are fricked. Might as well just let the Astros hit off a tee

Lunhow said we will be buyers at the deadline. Maybe that's when Santana and villar are traded. I really hope we don't make any mistakes and trade a guy like Appel or one of the les talked about guys like tucker or kemp

I am fine with dealing Tucker or Kemp depending on who we are getting back. I would guess Appel is untouchable
