I have to say that I don't blame him. He was coming off an injury and was a rookie. His offensive line is terrible and he had no one to throw to. Why resign yourself to be a career backup when you are just starting and you were in a terrible situation? I feel bad for him. He has all the tools and did not get much of a chance. From the rumors before the draft that dropped him to the 6th round to being on a horrible team to Mariota getting picked the next Spring, it has been one thing after another.

Hopefully, he gets another shot.

or he could beat Mariotta..?

which I know probably wouldn't be a fair shot this summer, but if Mariotta sucks, which I believe he will, Mett will get his chance to take over this fall.

They'll need Mariotta because their QB will be running for his life. Their OL is still going to be shite.

He'll never get a fair shake in Tennessee, besides they probably have the worst team in the league right now. If he's gonna be a backup, at least back up a solid vet that can teach him stuff.

you draft a QB with the 2nd pick, you go down with that QB on the sinking ship.

I think he would do well in New England.

Look at Mett realistically.......slow long release and not mobile.

If Mett and MM are equal from a passing standpoint MM gives them a huge upgrade from the mobility aspect.

This is not a bash Mett thread. Everyone knows about his weaknesses.

They aren't keeping the #2 overall pick on the bench

The Titans are still bigger retards for not even trying to build their team.

A lot of teams would really benefit getting ZM. Just off the top of my head:

Cinci (Dalton just isn't that good, lets be honest)
Pitt (Easily could take over for big ben pretty soon)
Cle (they have nothing)
Houston (they also suck at qb)
NYG (Eli has got to be getting close to the end)
NYJ (they suck at drafting qbs)
Den (last year for peyton)
Chicago (Jay Cutler )

I actually think he has a ton of potential and could be a long time starter in the NFL, or maybe I'm just drinking the Kool Aid.

There's not competition, the coach already said Mariotta will be the starter game 1. Their team sucks anyway it would be in his best interest to leave if he can.

I really like Mett a lot, but this was disappointing to hear last night. Makes him comes across as an entitled pussy that he can't even compete for a starting job when he has only been in the league for one year.

You really think Tennessee took MM second overall pick in the draft to let him compete with Mett?

6th round picks have no leverage. Here's a secret...

#2 pick in 1st round >>>> 6th round pick

at least in the eyes of the guy signing the paychecks.

Are you denying that the NFL flunked his drug test at the NFL combine???

If Ian Rapoport's tweet about the proposed trade offer from Philadelphia in exchange for the number two pick are true then there is no way Mariotta doesn't start from Day 1.

When you turn down an offer like that it's because you truly believe that you have just drafted a franchise quarterback that will provide an instant spark to your team. The front office would look rather stupid if the coaching staff granted Mettenberger the starting position.

Fans will be screaming, "Why did we pass up on that offer if this kid isn't good enough to play right away?"

The deck is stacked against Mettenberger. It's a real shame.
