Per Adam Schefter
Police are seeking to question LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins following the shooting death of a pregnant woman last week, Baton Rouge police Lt. Jonny Dunnam told ESPN.
Brittany Mills, 29, is believed by police to be a former girlfriend of Collins. Police said Collins is not currently a suspect in the shooting, only that they want to talk to him to see if he can assist with the information.
Collins' attorney, Jim Boren, told police his client is in Chicago, getting ready for the NFL draft. But Boren said he has been in constant contact with the lead detective on the case, he spoke with the district attorney today, and he even has retained the services of a private investigative firm to help him prove that Collins was not close to Mills' home when she was murdered.
"We took the investigation seriously," Boren said from his offices Tuesday. "We've tried to rule him out as a suspect. We're going to provide that information to the police, and ultimately (Collins) will sit down and talk to them. But the timing is poor."
Collins is projected as a first-round pick in Thursday's draft. Sources said a handful of teams have become aware of the incident and would like to know if police determine that Collins is the father of the infant who was delivered after Mills' death. The baby still receiving medical treatment.
Police told the Baton Rouge Advocate newspaper that in investigators believe, from a preliminary investigation, that Mills opened her door to someone who wanted to use her car and was shot multiple times after she refused.
Neighbors said they heard two gunshots about 10:30 p.m. Friday. They said the door to Mills' apartment was ajar when police arrived.

Holy shite. For someone that had a impeccable reputation during his 4 years at LSU, this is horrible timing for news like this to surface. Assuming he had nothing to do with it, I feel bad for him to have this lingering over him 2 days before the draft begins.

Just quick detective work that was stalled because Collins Instagram is private.
On October 11th, he tweeted "I love you more than anything on this earth" with an Instagram picture. If that is indeed this girl, this would be his kid. But that could be his mom or another girl for all I know (as I have no way to see the picture), but perhaps one of his 9000 followers posts on here.
I wonder how far along that baby was. It's amazing what doctors can do these days. I was born very early due to complications. Praying for that baby, whether or not it belongs to Collins.

Well, it could still be someone else's kid. Only a DNA test could confirm it.

I'm not saying he's guilty but it's false to this k because someone has never been in law trouble before that they aren't capable of bad stuff...fact is we don't know any of these guys or who they really are. I hope he had nothing to do with this.I have no reason to believe he does unless there is evidence.

Down vote for not adding "not a suspect" in the title

Fair enough. I'm assuming she would have been pregnant before that if this baby is still fighting, and I sure wouldn't get involved with a girl who was dating a future NFL o-lineman, but I guess it's possible somebody is that stupid. All of this is purely speculation, but it is interesting that police have contacted him because in my experience, they don't just contact exes left and right.

Comparing Collins to Harrison at this point is irresponsible.

Because police don't just speak with people across the country unless they think it will help crack open the case.

quote:I apologize for jumping on you But I think this is BS. He isnt even a POI. The police are simply gathering info from anyone who knew the girl.
