Can we simply nuke southern Indiana?

The town is only like 900 people. It was 90 a month or so ago. Now, 142. And that's only the people who have been tested. That town is going to be wiped out.
Wow, you're right. I read about this a month or so ago and the number of new cases was in the 80s. So they have added 50-60+ new cases in a span of 1-2 months.

Why waste the nuke and ruin the place? It seems like the problem is taking care of itself anyway.

They interviewed one addict in town and she said she doesn't care about the consequences when she wants a fix, said she will do anything.
She hadn't yet been tested, but 3 of her friends had already tested positive.

Sounds like she's safe to me. Pass the needle

I wish it were really as simple as "play stupid games, win stupid prizes."
Sadly, some other family is struggling too meet their bills in part due to increased resources spent on state and federal funded healthcare for these types of self induced diseases. Hep C and HIV treatments are super expensive and all too frequently the taxpayer foots the bill.
There is a way to end these cycles but few have the constitution to even discuss it.

And I thought HIV treatment is cheap. There is a commercial that says it costs 39 cents a day, or something like that. Of course, you're a doctor. You would know better than I.

Just dispense poison needles and be done with it.

If they would just legalize everything then none of this would happen. Away with all laws! Anarchy!
Oh but keep welfare - I have some fancy cakes I need to buy on my WIC card.

No, it really is that simple. People have been taught for a number of years now about contracting AIDS through needle swapping, etc.
Play the game, get the trophy.

Legalization has some merits. However, legalization would not make a difference in this particular case. These idiots are able to acquire the meds illegally, use them illegally, and don't give a shite about the consequences. Why could then not acquire and use clean needles? What do you think making the drug legal would change in this particular case?
You really want to change the dead end, unproductive, drain on society aspect of drug culture, then simply stop providing free medical services to them.

Oh, I completely agree with this part.
The problem is we all have to share in the trophy. With medical advances and taxpayer funded treatments, the trophy is no longer a short lived disease. It is no longer a burden carried by only the infected.
If you expand that to free needles, free drugs (some municipalities are doing this to curb the problem), free housing and food stamps, free medical care and a care free attitude by those using and infected, it is easy to see how "Play Stupid Games win free stuff and enjoyment at others expense" is a better analogy.

Drug test for free money, housing, or healthcare just like we have to be drug tested for our jobs.

Many would argue the tests are too easy to beat and too costly in the first place.
None of it would matter without some changes to EMTALA.

Anyone in this day and age stupid enough to still share needles deserves whatever happens to them.

You didn't answer my post about the cost of HIV treatment.
