oh damn any insight on why they dropped off from 21-9 to 2-20? that seems drastic
the coach retired, most good players graduated, and the replacement had a heart attack before the season started

Didn't something similar happen in softball? I heard Chalmette was given the 32 as district champs even though they didn't finish in top 32. At least that's what someone told me.
yeah
my proposal would be that the worst few games for every team in the state (like 5 or so for each team) don't count as games in the power point calculations, but you still get the points for them
why because every team has games they don't want to play but they have to play. for most teams these 5 games will be losses

Also King baseball last year. They were 33 but district championship does guarantee you a playoff spot. So they got 32 and bumped someone.

it happens bc the bottom feeders in our district are the worst teams in the state... what are we supposed to do, coach them up in addition to our own? we can't choose whether or not to play them like a non-district game

i'm posting bc the Owls are in this year (and we might do some damage, our district left us terribly underseeded)
West Monroe went 15-0 in district and won 17 of their last 18. The one loss was 2-1 against top 10 Airline. You might pull off the upset, but they're not exactly over seeded.

This. Destrehan and Hahnville suffer from this weak district problem. At least they have each other but they also front load their schedules with good teams. Destrehan had more success early, started district play at #4, ended season at #10.

you're listing West Monroe's record, they might be a totally legit #9 seed, but that has nothing to do with Chalmette being in some people's eyes better than a #24 seed
but Ostrich we played a few playoff teams in 5A, a bunch in 4A, and so on and so forth. maybe next year we'll play more since we know we can compete and the guaranteed power points are appealing. that's up to Coach Barwick

You are likely much better than 24,but your schedule is shite. You are very close to some quality programs, why didn't you play any of them?
Jesuit, Rummel, Hahnville, Curtis, and Brother Martin are all close and much better competition than 95% of your schedule. Yes I see you played Brother Martin once, but why not a midweek game with some of these teams?

we played a bunch of them... i could go down the list. whoever says that our non-district schedule was weak is uninformed

Well if you want respect, the LHSAA is giving you the chance. At West Monroe, at Jesuit 3 game series, at Sulphur 3 game series, Barbe, and Catholic. That's your likely path to a ring. Basically all the teams that have won 5A titles. Good luck

are the 3A brackets coming out today?
3A teams have til tomorrow evening to complete play. Brackets due out Tuesday. 5 and 4A out early due to playing a series once out of first round to advance.

Winning a three-game series at Jesuit's new huge park isn't impossible but it's pretty close. I hear Chalmette has some good pitching so I'd love to see that matchup. Could be nothing but 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 games.

I really don't see them making the 5 hour trek Tuesday and beating WM, but I'm an admitted Homer. WM can put up a lot of runs in a hurry, but it's actually a very friendly pitcher's Park. 315/355/400 with a 10ft. wall all the way around.

Any idea where St. Thomas More plays their games?
Posted on 4/26/15 at 4:55 pm to Horsemeat
They're the 2 seed so they'll be home until the semifinals or until they lose.
Posted on 4/26/15 at 4:58 pm to JJ27
Well, you don't really know anything about them.
Of course, WM is favored, but it's a one-off so anything can happen. Chalmette's ace has four no-hitters this year, albeit against lesser competition.

Which is why I'm asking where in BR they play...
Posted on 4/26/15 at 5:15 pm to Horsemeat
I thought STM was in Lafayette? Semifinals and finals are in Sulphur. So they won't play in BR... As nice as their football stadium is, I would think they have their own baseball field at the school.
