Parsons isnt a bad comp. That would be his peak, imo.

Rotational player. His outside shooting is not that special outside of the past two weeks.

he did shoot 40% from 3 as a freshman

32% and 33% the last 2 years.

Gordon Hayward shot 29% after a 44% freshman campaign

So the potential is there it seems.

And parsons wasn't anything special in college either. The only thing I remember from him was his half court shot to win a game his freshmannyear

I said before the tourney started that he's a better NBA prospect than Frank the Tank, and I like both of them a lot.

He's never gonna be an All Star, but he's gonna be an important player for his team mainly because he's a good 2 way player and he doesn't really need to score a lot or have the ball a lot to impact the game. Great defender that can guard 1-4, an efficient scorer who can score in different ways. He's tough, selfless, and a smart basketball player and had an "it" factor. He's not an elite scorer and won't be a teams go to guy in the NBA, but he's the type of player whose impact might not be found on the stat sheet. He can do a little bit of everything.

He reminds me of Kawhi Leonard, Luol Deng, DeMarre Carroll. He might never be as good as Kawhi or Deng, but the way he plays and how he's a great 2 way player reminds me of them. And he will have the same role in the NBA as Carroll does for the Hawks IMO. He's the "glue guy" for his team. Doesn't take a lot of shots but scores at an efficient rate, plays excellent defense, rebounds it well, and makes smart plays.

I agree with the Deng comparisons.

I def see some similarities between Dekker and Parsons, but I don't think he will ever be as offensively skilled as Parsons is in the NBA. Parsons is a really really good scorer in the league. But I do think Dekker is stronger / tougher and a better defensive player.

He's the type of player Bill Walton would erupt in his pants over.

Dekker isn't quite the mismatch that Parsons is because of his height. But I never thought Parsons would flourish offensively as he has. I thought he'd be like a poor man's Lamar Odom.

it's easier for a 7 footer who can shoot & pass to carve out a niche in the NBA than a 6-7 guy with limited athleticism who isn't a great shooter.

Dekker measured in at 6'9 with shoes on at the Nike Skills Academy in 2014. And he was dominant at that camp as well.

Interested to see what he measures in at the combine though.

Why are you so convinced he is limited athletically?

I'm interested to see how Nik Stauskas develops in the NBA. I feel like him and Dekker are very similar with Stauskas having a better jump shot at his point.

He's not a bad athlete but the big 10 is not the NBA. You don't see many white guys guarding wing players in the NBA, much less ones that are known as 'defensive stoppers'. They dont really exist.

Im with you on that and I don't think he is gonna be making a living off his athleticism but it won't hold him back either. It's not like he's McDermott athletically.

he needs to shoot a ton of 3s in the offseason. He can make a living off that
