I was stationed close to Munich. Try to catch a soccer game, go see the fountains and the churches and eat at the old brewery.

Go to the beer hall where Hitler staged his first coup that ultimately failed. It's a Nazi landmark lol

Monty Python once made a TV special in Germany. When they arrived in Munich they were immediately driven by their tour guide to Dachau -- I guess Germans figure everybody wants to see it.
Unfortunately they arrived late and Dachau was closed. Their tour guide argued with the Dachau security guard but he refused to open up for them.
The tour guide regretfully told the Pythons there was no way they could get in. To which Graham Chapman replied:
”TELL THEM WE’RE JEWS!”

How depressed do you want to be? Go to Dachau if it is a multi-day Munich trip or if you want to spend the whole time questioning the value of humanity.
Otherwise Marienplatz, hofbräuhaus, the Residenz, top of st. Peter's church, and just generally walk around taking in the sites and history.

Dachau and then a beer hall to pull you out of your hate for humanity.

The 72 Olympic stadium and park around it were most interesting thing to be. The park and stadium used ww2 rubble to create hills which are pretty Co the way they are formed......
.that and the beer garden in the park where I saw Mrs west Germany doing a bikini shoot.

1. All the aforementioned hitler stuff
2. rothenburg ob der tauber, about 2.5 hours drive but immaculate, storybook Bavarian village
3. neuschwanstein castle
4. Austria
5. The city itself is badass. Compared to other big german cities it was the only one not seriously damaged in ww2

I hate burning the 19th post with this, but
quote:dafuq? It was greatly damaged in the war. It was essentially the seat of the Nazi party and was heavily fire-bombed.
