Looking to book an overnight tuna trip out of Grand Isle this summer for a bachelor party. Any suggestions of who to go with? Everything I look up says max of 6 people. Are there any charters that would take more than that?

Coast guard rule. 6 is the limit + captain and deckhand

I went on an overnight Tuna charter last year out of Venice, and it was NOT one of my more fond outdoor memories. There is no advantage to fishing at night as the feeding activity slowed down, and it was pretty miserable trying to sleep on wet bean bags at the bottom of the boat. We felt like a bunch of refugees trying to sleep on the boat from Midnight - 5AM.

If it were me, I would plan on a day trip to kick off the bachelor party weekend by going fishing on Friday, then end up in NO on Saturday.

I hear what you're saying but I don't think the Groom is going to want to budge on this.

The captain wouldn't allow lines in the water while he slept. It sucked!!!

The captain slept on an overnighter?

I would have asked for a refund.

Not really a Coast Guard rule, more of with what License the Captain has. Most captains have a 6 Pack License.

quote:

The USCG Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV/Six-pack Captain's License) allows the holder to carry up to six paying passengers on uninspected vessels up to 100 gross tons (about 75-90 feet long). These are usually smaller vessels that normally engage in charter fishing, SCUBA diving, or tour cruises. As such, these vessels are limited to six paying passengers plus crew-hence the term "Six-pack."

Ya'll should book both Reel addiction and Fish commander. you could buddy boat near each other all day. They each have 6 pack licenses.

Your other option is Steve Tomeny and he is the devil incarnate who has led the charge to frick the recreational man with regard to snapper.

So, you slept all night with no baits in the water and you wonder why they weren't biting?

What captain was responsible for your trip?

We need to know this.

A friend of my dads set up the trip and I don't remember the captains name. I just remembered how miserable the freaking night was, and how we all just wanted to go home because we were wet and cold.

Ya'll must have either:

1. run out of beer
2. forgot the hard liquor and ; or
3. been pussies.

Kidding man. I've had some miserable overnighters too, but mostly because the other guys slept while I stayed up and did all the work while crawling over them.
