Sorry. I was incorrect. He is the highest paid coach in all American sports. Probably some random managers of soccer clubs earn more.

Wait... What?

Might be the single dumbest thing I've ever read on TD and I've seen some dumbass shite. Mostly trolls but what makes this worse is that he's not trolling. I'm dumbfounded

Seriously doubt Pitino sticks around long enough to catch Coach K.

I didn't know vacated ones counted?

I mean I watched his Memphis team lose to Kansas in championship with that absurd Mario Chalmers shot.

So we've won 11 SEC titles in football instead of 8?

Making the final four in almost 1 out of every 3 seasons over a 40 year stretch is actually one of the most impressive stats I've ever seen. Congrats on trying to make that a negative thing though

If a 30% F4 appearance rate does not impress you, then there must not be a good coach out there.

Even more impressive when you take out the Army years. I think he has been at Duke for 33 years counting this season and made 12 final fours.

Shaka Smart - (163-56), 1 Final Four and only 37 years old. Youngest coach ever to 100 wins. He averages 27 wins a year at VCU of all places.

Check out Duke basketball before and after Coach K took over (1980). That guy built that program into one of the power prpgrams.
Uh, Bill Foster wasn't much of a slouch. He left that program in good condition for Krzyzewski to continue the upward climb. Duke was only three years removed from a national title appearance and one year removed from an Elite Eight when Coach K arrived.
Despite being perhaps the greatest college basketball coach of all-time (there has been greater parity in the last 30 years as opposed to when Wooden coached), he gets way too much credit from building that program from the ground up.

Did you just say meh in regards to making a final 4 in 30% of all of a coaches seasons?

It gets funnier every time I read it.

Yes, yes he did.
Astonishing response to such an incredible feat.
They don't give out lifetime contracts for "meh"

Fwiw earlier in the season he said he wanted to coach at least another 5 years

Only in college basketball are coaches and players so heralded for qualifying for a semifinal round. Yes there are 64 teams and it is somewhat notable but Final Four appearances are lauded far more frequently than NCG appearances.
I say this meaning no disrespect to Coach K for his accomplishments in any way, but this cultural fascination with the alliteration of the phrase "Final Four" is puzzling to me. It's a semifinal.
