I'm watching the statement.
He is facing life in prison. Death penalty is not in play.

When he was first talked about getting released I swore people were wanting to do anything to get him out. Did we have all the facts before trading the prisoners for this guy?
Either way he deserves to be charged but what does that charge mean? jail time?

I'm surprised, and giddy.

Any way you slice it, he wasn't worth giving up 5 guys from Gitmo.
Bergdahl was probably better off not getting rescued..

What are the chances of him being involved with the CIA.

Looking on usmilitary.com and there are four levels of desertion. Minimum confinement is two years and maximum is death or life imprisonment.
"If the member deserts during time of war, death or such other punishment (such as life in prison) as a court-martial may direct."

To be honest it really is a shocker.

A real press would give this administration hell.

We don't negotiate with terrorists unless it is to rescue a deserter.

Backlash would've been even worse had they left a soldier in enemy hands without attempting to rescue him.
It was really a no-win situation.

It's more likely he is involved with the al qaeda than with the CIA.

He won't get that harsh of a punishment because we technically aren't at war. Haven't been since WWII.
He's been charged, but I doubt he gets convicted of much of anything. It would look too bad on the administration.
