He caught heat for way more posts than just the Theron ones.

School made their decision, there may have been other incidents. I wouldn't fire the guy if it were my choice but I have absolutely no sympathy for him.

I am pro punishing the guy, but not kicking him off the team. Suspend him, make him publicly apologize, make him run until he vomits then run some more. All of that maybe.
Unless the kid has a history, the punishment is way too harsh.

What if a 13 year old really is a slut and a kid of a reasonably close age tweeted a similar comment? Suspend him from his sport?
People need to stop being so sensitive. Actions have consequences, but a non threatening tweet shouldn't ruin anyone's career and or life.
Blah blah blah I don't care about some hypothetical in which it makes it less bad.
You can not call 13 year old girls sluts END OF STORY. As I said before most reasonable people think he was probably trying to be funny so it shouldn't and won't ruin his career. But he is going to learn the hard way that you just can't do certain things.

I don't know about that. I'm sure if you or I posted that on our public twitter, we could be fired from our jobs. Kicking him off of the team is the same thing

Yeah but this is an anonymous account where we don't represent our company, school, team etc.

Calling a thirteen year old girl a slut is pretty bad.
i don't know what the appropriate punishment is, but you have to know if you go that dirty, you might be found to be dirty.
A tweet is a tweet, but this kid should have been taught better. If his parents haven't instilled it in him, then I'm fine with the letting the world do it.

But that's what schools and organizations do. They sweep it under the rug unless the media grabs onto it and pressures them to do something big. I hate that.
Its a lot harder to do that when the kid posted it on his fricking twitter

Not a big baseball fan, but of course I know who Davis is.
I am truly impressed by how maturely she handled the matter. That girl has a good head on her shoulders and good people around her, and I wish her all the best.
For those tired of hearing about her in the media, get over it--it's not her fault, and she'd be a fool to eschew exposure. Media will move on to something or someone else for y'all to bitch about soon enough.

WTF do you know about people getting in trouble for people saying stuff online and getting in trouble for it? How dare you have an opinion when you live in America and have been able to say anything you want with no consequences.

IMO this is 100% the story. I was the first person on TD to bring up her comments, on the Poli Board in the "you be the judge thread", and that is exactly what I said. SHE is the real story! Who cares about what a drunk college kid tweets when we have a 13 yr old inner city kid reminding us all how we should act.

Mo'ne Davis is a cool girl. She actually seems like she doesn't love the attention, even though she gets so much. I don't think it's possible for a 13-year old to fake humility.

No doubt, the kid has her shite together!
Posted on 3/24/15 at 12:42 am to lsu480
I feel like this girl would have worked her arse off no matter what and become great. I hope this early stardom doesn't slow her drive down at all.

Have the rockets ever had someone kicked off team for tweeting??
Posted on 3/24/15 at 12:52 am to SwaggerCopter
I have no doubt she will be VERY successful in her life, no matter what path she takes
Posted on 3/24/15 at 12:52 am to lsu480
If thay career is a hooker people are gonna feel realllllly dumb

I was joking because I know you have been fricked over online comments as well. I really do think online comments are no big deal UNLESS the person is like that in real life. I am sure his team knows if he is the kind of person to walk up to a 13 year old and call her a slut IRL. If he is then frick him and kick him off, if he is just someone who did something stupid online then have his back.
