O/U 30?

LSU continues its ever-improving trend in JJ Year 4...

With a boatload of incoming talent and a host of tourney-experienced veterans, LSU wins 26 games, finishes a close 2nd to UK, wins at least 2 more in the SECT, and breaks through in the NCAAT to the Elite 8 -- to no one's surprise.

Bookmark this, and commence "but but but Johnny Jones" hate You still won't convince me this team, and this coach, doesn't win 30 games next year.

How can this thread be answered when no one knows what players will compose the roster?

There is no doubt he's improved every year. Hopefully that trend continues next season.

Under 27... I guess the question should be, do you think the team wins more or less games than this year? That's what it seems you guys are saying. I'm no sunshine pumper by the way. Just think we break through next year. NCST beating Nova just goes to show what could have been. Think the players come back ultra hungry, plus much more talented.

The O/U should be at 25. LSU is going to improve their non-conf schedule significantly if for no other reason than the networks will want to show Simmons. 11-2 in non-conf won't be likely, but I'll take another 1-3 more OOC losses if the SOS is much better than this year's 170+

Plus, we have no idea what the roster is going to look like next year. There are still a lot of big moving parts out there. Nonetheless, inconsistency in the SEC and a first round exit in the NCAAT isn't going to cut it. Jones may have the most talented roster he will EVER have at LSU.

Need to see who returns and what the final recruiting class looks like first.

It's a good thing for expectations to be better, but I think 30 wins is tough for even the most ardent Positigers to imagine.

If Ben Simmons is the transcendent talent most expect him to be it will be another improvement, and based on who comes back we'll have a good mix of veteran experienced players and young dynamic talent.

But I think it's still a fair question to ask if we can expect the staff to get the most out of that mix.

I think most would agree years two and 3 CJJ probably left some chicken on the bone in that regard.

When you consider the fact that a 22 win team lost 10 games by single digits, that's not so far-fetched. At least for next season, Simmons will bring a big-time "closer" mentality to the team, regardless of who returns. He wants the ball in every tight situation and has the moxy and confidence that he will delivery the goods, every single time. That kind of leadership, along with the tough and determined play of guys like Hornsby and TQ should lend itself to putting away every team they're favored over, unlike this past season. If everyone who can return does return, LSU will be ranked top ten pre-season and likely stay there. Simmons is that good. He will make everyone's play better.
