I agree with all of this. Blame needs to be put on players AND coaches, not one or the other. This season WAS an improvement and the future is bright in that we'll have too much talent next year to do any worse. But no one is a MORON for blaming coach.

Coach Jones deserves to be called into question and deserves a hefty portion of the blame for last night’s loss and for several others this year. Many of you I heard from recognize that Coach Jones is an exceptional recruiter but are not yet convinced that he is a great Xs and Os coach, and I feel the same way. But, while it’s easy and convenient to put the blame on Coach Jones, we also have to realize that just one made field goal in the last few minutes, or just one made free throw in the final four attempts, would have likely put the game out of reach. And we also have to remember that Coach Jones’ Tigers won 22 games this year and made it to the tournament for the first time in six years.

Johnny Jones needs an Art Tollis type of assistant ,if anything, to wake him up when he gets caught in the headlights.

You could see it in chuck barleys eyes last night at halftime.
I can only imagine what he thought after we lost.

Did you see the coach not substitute guys all season leading to late game execution and focus trouble which cost us about 6 games? It's a systemic problem.
Our guys are always tired and execute poorly late. He never fixed it or adjusted.

This loss is completely on the players. Jones cannot make their shots for them. They had open looks the last three minutes, including easy put-ins and lay-ups, along with free throws, and could not get it done.

Tired is a piss poor excuse for missing that many free throws.

He has a coach on his staff that was an NBA head coach. Think of that for a second. I learned years ago playing football in Europe, that the biggest mistake a head coach can make is trying to show everyone how smart he is.
Musselman's face at end of game (while shaking hands ) was priceless.

It goes both way, players weren't making shots but JJ did pretty much nothing to help. He ended the game with 3 TO's in his pocket taking ONE timeout the last 10 minutes of the game we made ZERO FGs. He waited until it went from 62-48 to 62-58 to take a TO then the last 5 minutes of the game simply never took a TO despite us still missing everything and NCST closing in.

They are worn out because they've been playing 35+ minutes a game all season. FTs have become a progressive problem as the year has gone along, early on we were making them.

Did you watch our opponent last night? Hardly a top team with McDonald's all Americans. But they subbed in guys and the subs were making plays late.
Plenty of teams have guys that can come on for a few minutes a half and spell their starters.
We didn't spend any time developing the bench all year.

Not finishing games falls on the coaching. Not executing falls on the players.
Call a timeout, yell at the old lady sitting behind the bench, punch a baby, do something. You've got to find a way to motivate your players and get them to focus.

Coaching often sets the pace for team focus and discipline. The hot and cold play of this team all season raises the question of whether Coach Jones has all his eggs in the recruiting basket and only broken shells in playing the actual game with focus and intensity (and Xs and Os). I think he is lacking in the XOs dept. And in focus. This team reflects that well, because otherwise they are a talented bunch.

I haven't seen this team run ONE set play or ONE in-bounds play all year. What do they do at practice? They obviously don't shoot free throws. I know Jones says he likes to let them be creative. This is an excuse for him being lazy or not knowing what to do. Plus it leads to us going 1 on 1 late in games when teams figure out that they can sag off the ball and help on dribble drives. Johnny is a nice guy and good recruiter but he's in over his head as a head coach in the SEC.

Well when your coach becomes a spectator, why even have a coach. JJ could have sat in the stands and had a beer and hot dog. He was that relevant to his team's success.
Sub, call plays, time outs, settle your team down . . . Do something!
Well coached teams don't melt down the way this team does.

I wonder if all the fans saying that you can't blame JJ are saying the same thing about CLM when a football player throws an interception, fumbles, or does something else to cost the football team a game
