Tell your wife to deal with anxiety like a normal grown up instead of swallowing pills. The number of people using RX meds these days to help them mentally cope with life is pathetic. If she can't be normal without taking mental pills it may be time to end that relationship.

Lexapro will make her like an emotionless zombie from what I've seen from people I know who took it.

Wow. Would you leave her if she got cancer too?

Piss off, tough guy.

Different antidepressants affect different people in different ways. There is no blanket statement answer.

Sounds like you could benefit from some medication yourself. Assuming there's something for extreme judgmental ignorance.

In an ideal world it would be possible to deal with all mental health issues without any medicinal intervention, but I think you would have to really have a strong grasp of everyone's experiences to make such a blanket statement. Medication can be very powerful, and very helpful, but you have to educate yourself on the properties of each medication, and stop depending on doctors/psychiatrists all the time to just hand out meds without question. Most doctors/psychiatrist I have encountered have good intentions, but you still have to do your part on understanding the medication from other's perspectives, and how it effected them. When everyone is working together on that, then medication can play the role it was always originally intended to play.

This. I took it for years and it made me apathetic about almost everything including living and enjoying the emotions associated with life. I was just there but not emotionally involved in anything....

.Also. quitting it was DIFFICULT....took over a year to step down off of it due to severe depression when I stop taking it
