"There is a decent chance that Bowe's production were directly related to the QB he had."
I don't follow the Chiefs enough to know precisely where Bowe is at this point in his career, but given the difference in QB's, I would have him in for a workout at least. What's the harm?
As many have said, price is critical.

No, the $50+ million in cap space we've cleared up by via the Graham and Grubbs trade + cutting Lofton.
We can easily afford him.

I'm more interested in stevie Johnson

I would, he could be an asset for a team that has a QB who can get the ball out to to the sidelines.
Like someone said Alex Smith is all shakedowns. Doesn't have the arm strength to get him the ball.
For the right price, could really be an asset.
I think he could have been one of the best WRs in the nFL if he had a been paired with a good enough QB for his entire career. Unbelievable talented.
Instead he played with guys like David Huard, Tyler Thigpen, Matt Cassel, and Alex Smith.

Didn't Sean Payton pee all over himself watching him score all those TD's in the sugar bowl. I remember him chattering away on his cell, when the camera was showing him....

good rotoworld summaries-
A high-priced perennial underachiever, Bowe has finally worn out his welcome in Kansas City. Finding the root of Bowe's struggles is like the chicken and egg argument: it's hard to tell if Bowe fared poorly because of Alex Smith or if it was the other way around. Either way, there's no way anyone is trading for Bowe at his $10.75 million salary. He'll hit free agency soon.
They needed the cap room to fit in Ben Grubbs and Jeremy Maclin, among others. Going on age 31, Bowe becomes a top-five free agent wide receiver, joining Percy Harvin, Michael Crabtree, Stevie Johnson, and Kenny Britt. Unfortunately for him, that won't necessarily amount to much guaranteed on the open market. Bowe is coming off a 60-754-0 season in Kansas City. It's not entirely on Bowe, but he's gone 17 straight games without a touchdown catch

This
He is far from done.

Seriously. I think if you pair him with Brees, an 8 TD type of year would be no surprise to me.

When has Brees had a star receiver?
Bowe is above average and will have 8-10 TD 1,000 plus yards. I think we should make a play for him on a 2-3 yr deal

How am I high?
Or you under the impression that you have to take the complete cap hit in 1 year or something? We can backload the contract with a nice signing bonus to spread it out (or frontload it, as only you would say)
quote:
Here's what I was talking about with future cap space:
Left on Contract:
Graham: $36 million (2015: 11, 2016: 12, 2017: 13)
+ Lofton: $24 million (2015: 9.25, 2016: 7.75, 2017: 7)
+ Grubbs: $17.9 million (2015: 8.6, 2017: 9.3)
= $77.9 million through 2017 in cap space.
Dead Money
Graham: $9 million
+ Lofton: $5 million
+ Grubbs: 6 million
= $20 million in dead money.
Total Future Cap Savings
$77.9 million
-$20 million
=$57.9 million
And that is just based off those 3 players
Saints are in fine shape going forward cap wise, especially given that we have some easy cap decisions to make next year in Colston and Evans
