I thought it was a good doc but wondered why no Grohl perspective.
I haven't watched yet, but I'm not surprised Dave Grohl wasn't in it. Him and Courtney Love literally hate each other. She hates him for the success of Foo Fighters and has said things like the only reason the Foo Fighters are successful is because of Kurt, they've had several spats with each other over the years.
Side note Foo Fighters first album was Grohl by himself recording every instrument. He has said before that some of those songs from that album were songs that him and Kurt were preparing to do a little side experiment band. Ever since I heard Grohl say this I've wondered what that band would be like.

He's in it via footage during Nirvana. Just no interview while Krist is interviewed throughout.

I only shite on Cobain as far as being mentioned as one of the most influential guitarists. I see him in a lot of those "Greatest Guitarists of All Time" lists.
Dave Grohl was the best musician in Nirvana. Cobain was the best poet.
Although, Dave has recently given him a run for his money. I don't think he gets enough credit for what he brought to the band. Listen to every Nirvana hit and try to imagine it without Grohl on the drums. It's not the same at all.
Oh, and after watching this I see really clearly why Grohl can't stand Courtney Love. I'm pretty sure at least 50% of the blame for KC offing himself goes on her alone.

which is comical coming from that junkie whore. Grohl distanced himself so far from Nirvana and Cobain after the suicide. He won't even play their songs. You can see in interviews he doesn't even like talking about Nirvana and Cobain.

Like I said, I haven't watched just said that I'm not all that surprised he didn't do an interview after all of his and Love's fights and lawsuits.

Kurt Cobain wrote everything you hear on Nirvana albums....and recorded most of it.

Grohl was interviewed for the movie but none of it was included. Probably because he is a douchebag.
Grohl and Love are friends now too, google it.

My college roommate "got" it.
There was nothing to "get". A guy with a messed up upbringing and got strung out on drugs and sung/screamed about it and people wanted to attach the genius label to him. Give me a break.

I'd rather Cobain myself than research Warrant. Really? fricking Warrant? I just want to make sure of what I just read. Warrant... OK.

Did you not just perform fellatio on Guns N Roses on the last page?

Google shows the director didn't interview him until right before the release. WTF?
Grohl was on tour.
His point of view will be on DVD.

Who cares about the first week?
Because it is a better indicator of the band's popularity at the time than sales 20 years later.
At the time of Kurt's death, Pearl Jam was more popular. That's why he called them sell outs. In 1992, Ten outsold Nevermind by almost 1,000,000 copies.

If they do go head to head, radio programmers are pretty definite about whom they'd put on the air first: Pearl Jam.
"Based on everything that we measure with--research and the vibe on the street--the anticipation for the Pearl Jam is probably bigger than the Nirvana," says Kevin Weatherly, program director of L.A.'s KROQ-FM.
That's the consensus of rock and alternative programmers around the country surveyed by Pop Eye. Of a dozen, only one said he would play Nirvana first (another copped out by saying he'd play one in the left stereo channel and the other on the right side).
The same view is reflected by record store suppliers, who expect initial demand for the Pearl Jam release to be at least 33% higher than for Nirvana.
"Pearl Jam's buzz right now is huge," says Ginelle Vicary, sales manager of the Pacific Coast One-Stop record distribution service in Chatsworth. "They've been in the spotlight all the time since 'Ten' came out, while Nirvana kind of dropped out of sight."

FIFY
If GnR had kept their shite together and stayed off the drugs, they'd have reached immortal status, far surpassing the likes of Nirvana.
Yep. GnR was freaking rolling during that time. Nirvana didn't kill off hair metal, GnR did. GnR wasn't hair metal, they were grimy, raw, hard.
The same self-destructive behavior killed both bands.
