Yet a thread about Slipknot gets 4 pages of praise. Gotta be the worst music forum on the internet outside of Phish sites.

These fricking home movies with Courtney are creeping me out in the worst way. So weird and gross.

Seeing his artwork, he was a fantastic artist. Anytime an artist kills themself or dies young a mythology develops about them and that makes them like a Greek or Roman God and enhances their image beyond what any living person or person who lived to be much older could ever reach. The same for Hendrix (my favorite artist), Joplin, Morrison, Jeff Buckley, etc. And I'm a fan of them all including Kurt.

I don't think Nirvana would have that legendary status to such a wide number of people if he hadn't offed himself but he was very very talented and I would have loved to hear other records from him or Nirvana had he lived because I know he would have at some point made a record like the Beatles and changed his sound up, he would have gotten bored with doing things too much the same. It's why In Utero is so different from Nevermind.

They were selling more albums than Michael Jackson did in his prime, while Cobain was still alive. They were the biggest rock band since the Beatles...

Disagree. Other bands were bigger and still are more legendary. Led Zeppelin being the first that comes to mind.

I think they would be more popular now if he hadn't killed himself. A lot of people seem to hate him now.

I cancelled HBO a while ago but found a free version of the movie on the internet, gonna watch it later tonight.

I vividly remember Nirvana blowing up. They were big but no bigger than Pearl Jam and a few others. GnR was still freaking huge. You could hear Courtney Love's jealousy in the home movies. How many times did she reference GnR? About that same time frame Green Day was blowing up too. There was a lot going on in the early 90's, it wasn't just a Nirvana only scene.

That whole show kind of disturbed me. Watching the home vids of Kurt and Courtney strung out of their minds living in filth was numbing. I felt scared and very badly for that poor child they had. They couldn't take care of themselves much less a baby.

That was really good, and so fitting that they ended with the Leadbelly cover. I've always thought that look in Kurt's eyes as he starts the last verse is one of the most haunting things I've ever seen, and they showed it from a much closer angle.

If they hadn't had such success, going from nowhere to the biggest band at the time over night, he'd probably still be alive. Say, if they'd only had the success level of his friend Buzz's band the Melvins.

He was really one conflicted, complicated man. I think a lot of the hate for him now comes from people that can't get over him killing himself or the kinds of shallow people that are so common that can't empathize with others or see things on any kind of deeper level.

This reminded me just how great Nevermind was, and just how big an impact it had. It also makes me wish even more that I'd gotten to see them live. The thought of being in the crowd when they crank into Territorial Pissings really gets me going.

The home movies with Courtney don't freak me out at all. The only part of that that did was the last one where he's nodding off hold Francis. That was just beyond sad. Hell, Courtney seemed like the sane one at that point.
