anybody ever heard of using leftover crawfish shells? I heard about this the other day, and would have thought that the salt would be a problem.
That being said, anyone do anything with leftover water from a boil?

My buddy had this genius idea to make his tomatoes grow bigger...
His lab dug up the rotting crustaceans while out then went through the dog door and proceeded to Fecal Japan his entire house.....

You can compost the shells.
The leftover dump it where you want to kill grass.

Epsom salt is good for tomaters. ....and people put a fish head in the hole when they plant tomaters. ...so crawfish would be ok it seems.

I have composted them but they stink for a while. I have a big pile of compost on the backside of my property and turn with my tractor so it's not a problem. If it was by the house I wouldn't do it. Fish heads as well. Makes great compost but keep it a long way away.

Yeah this right here. My lab once dug some fish heads out of my compost pile. Mrs Woody wouldn't let me or the dog back in the house.

If you are going to compost them, I'd hose off the scraps before adding to the pile. Too much salt is definitely a problem. The thrifty cajun use for leftover shells is to feed your chickens. Eggs will have lovely orange yolks, but too many and your eggs will taste like crawfish.

Eggs tasting like crawfish is never a bad thing!
