Sucks to be wrong about your whole farm system, eh?
Posted on 3/11/15 at 8:47 pm to Moustache
Don't really see any impact prospects in that group. Cubs will be the Cubs, with or without the likes of Theo and Maddon.

You can do better than that. That's a D-, rantard-like troll attempt

Was almost repeated verbatim from your troll attempts for the Astros. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Do you think the Astro's farm system is as promising as you thought 2 years ago when It suddenly jolted from the mid 20's to the top 5 over night?
Do we need to go over some of the guys yall were fawning over?

Yeah, top 3 farm system is terrible.

Answer my question above your post

You act like two years ago is a long time.
Springer has already shown he's very promising provided he stays healthy.
Correa is still a top prospect who's very young and at a premium position.
Singleton was a big disappointment last year but he can still turn it around.
McCullers struggled last year but has a live arm and is still young. Judgment at this point is premature.
Delino was always a borderline prospect. He stole 100 bases a couple years ago, but he always seemed to barely GAF. A disappointment, but not all of a team's top prospects work out, you know?
Appel is rebounding now. He admittedly doesn't look as good as Bryant now, but few people were arguing with the pick in 2013, and those who were wanted Gray.
And when people rave about the Astros' farm system, they rave about the depth. Some of the depth has naturally been removed over the last couple of years as players have been promoted, but it still remains to be seen as to whether it can sustain the organisation. What I do know is the Astros made a 20-game improvement last year.

So basically they all struggled except Correa & Springer?
Is it as good as you thought? Cause w short time ago yall were hyping these guys a ton. Now it's hard pressed to find an Astro prospect thread. It's clear yall aren't as high on these guys. As evidenced by your "let's just wait and see". Don't seem as sure anymore

It was two years ago.
When Bryant and Baez are still adjusting to the majors two short years from now and the Cubs farm system drops a few spots in the rankings, I'll be sure to give you shite.

I'll admit if they suck or not. shite, I already have very little hope for Baez.

Cool. Look for my post if I give enough of a shite.

Goddamn this thread has gone so far beyond stupid. These butt hurt Astros fans are pretty good comic relief though.

Since it is the Cubs led by Theo Epstein, Bryant is this can't miss prospect
I don't know anyone who has said this. Everyone projects a high cealing but i've never seen anyone not warn of the pitfalls of contact issues and just general 'not all prospects pan out' talk.
Most say addison russell is the best bet to be an everyday player because his floor is high.
I get the cubs prospect fatigue from rival fanbases, but please don't bastardize the facts to make a point unless you're just talking about cubs fans, in which case, as a reds fan, i'm sure you're aware of how miserable fans can be when it comes to their team.

They were losing 4-0 when this happen and still lost.

The lighter side of this to counter the 'how dare you be excited about young exciting players for your team' crowd.

You must not pay much attention then, because in the last three days I've read 3 articles about him being a can't miss prospect. I'm not "bastardizing" anything.

I just read keith law, listen to bp podcast and follow the cubs very closely. So Yea. I pay no attention and will just defer yo your generalized statement lacking evidence. Maybe we do read different stuff and perhaps on bleacher report that's happening.

What's happened here is that people outside Cubs fandom think this is the same ole same ole. They think this is the same Cubs system that boasted Corey Patterson, Rooseelt Brown, Jason DuBois, Felix Pie and Eric Patterson.
This is a completely different philosophy. It's something based in on base ability, player versatility, sabermetrics and in depth talent evaluation. This is not "plus arm" or "good bat with good eye".
At the same time, this is not fool proof and nothing is for certain. But yes, Cubs fans...at least some of the ones who can read and write above a third grade frat boy level...are excited that all the patience and watching and reading we've done in Theo and Jed's time here is right at the tip of the spear.
Now let's see if it's here for real.
(Let's not also forget where this franchise was when they took over...overloaded with overpayed and aging veterans, they completely remade the organization from the ground up in about three years. The first fruits of that are now here. So excuse us while we exhale.)

Right. You and I read a lot of the same stuff. I've not seen this "sure thing" talk. While yes there is a ton of excitement there is always a caveat that it's not a sure thing. Yea some guys say "he's as close to a sure thing as it gets" they're still careful to couch it.
