This. Look at sports. Everyone gets a trophy no matter how much they suck.

Grade inflation
Won't argue. I know a HS senior who has made A's all 4 years so far in math. I was discussing some financial stuff with her a few weeks ago. Just basic addition stuff, not interest rates or ammortization stuf, just simple "if your rent is this and electricity is this and you make this much". She could not figure out that bills were significantly more than income without using a calculator.

I think that the fact you go to them and show concern for your grade carries a lot of wait

When I was a sophomore in high school, one of our teachers required all of our work for her class to be written in cursive.
After the third day in her class, she was told by the administration that the cursive requirement was no longer allowed because almost half of her kids didn't know how to write/read it. No attempt was made to even teach them cursive.
I went on to graduate with all of these kids, and some of them went on to good schools. They had never even learned cursive.

who gives a frick about cursive?

Agree with the OP. I had 2hours of homework a night at a minimum when in HS. Kids who didn't make the grade failed. I had a pile of homework most weekends. I earned my frickin grades.

Seriously?

I write in all caps all the time. Cursive is the dumbest shite ever.
My caps aren't all large though. Proper Nouns and the first letter of a sentence are just larger than the other caps.

What about in NO where all schools are charter?

Thus students are trained all year on how to pass this one test and the retention of knowledge is lacking. The government likes the test b/c they make money off of it. The unions like the idea of monitoring the growth of the student while they are under a teacher's care.

I have never seen box tops collected at the high school level.
What grade is the kid in?

Such a blanket statement. What about teachers who teach non-testing year grades?

Are the snowflakes of today so precious that they can't be told that they are mediocre students
The real evil of this is that it makes it more likely that a person will choose a life path that won't satisfy them or just waste some of their best years trying to fit into a job or path that doesn't suit them.

When I graduated, graduating with honors meant something. Recently, I've seen some straight up idiots that have graduated with honors in the past 10 years.

Has it gotten that bad in 13 years? I had a 2.8 in high school and a 31 on the ACT.
