No one is mentioning Victor as a possible starter @ PF or C. Why not????

The only way he starts is if both Mickey and Martin don't come back. He's a solid player, but was a ltitle overhyped coming out of high school. It wasn't by complete accident he wasn't playing almost at all at Arizona, he was behind several other bigs (which they are loaded there, but Victor is a developing type of big)

Im a little nervous about taking Newman. Certainly puts us in the driver seat for a chance at a title but if we dont win a title or go to the final four it would suck and we would be rebuilding all over again. Martin and Mickey maybe gone after this season and certainly both gone after next season Newman and Blakeney would be gone and TQ would certainly he mulling over his decision couple in Hornsby and Gray gone we have a massive hole in the depth chart. 6, possibly 7 scholarship players gone.

Seems like everyone is forgetting about Elbert Robinson to play down low. This year was essentially a transition year from high school to college for him. He was bigger then everyone and didnt have to refine his game or his athleticism to dominate in high school.

I had him on my list, I think he makes the biggest improvement from year 1 to year 2 (not that he has anywhere to go but up). Unfortunately for Darcy I think what we're seeing is the best we'll ever get from him. Bridgewater is skilled but just really really short. Epps just seems like a roster filler to me.

The worrying part about Robinson you mentioned is he WASN'T a dominant high school player. Sure, he blocked shots being a foot taller than most everyone else he played against, and obviously grabbed boards being the same height difference, but he averaged like what, 12-14 points a game...at 7 feet? He has a TON of developing to do in his offensive game.

Funny how people assume Newman starts over Blakeney....Blakeney is arguably the best SG in the country

what people dont understand is that TQ is going to be even better next year then he is right now which is a scary thought.
a 6'6" PG. nobody realizes how rare and effective that is.
no way that TQ doesnt start. and honestly, he'd prob play more minutes then blakeney and newman.

Snapper is the man in the know when it comes to Newman, he was the first to report that lsu was getting a strong look from Malik

I agree that TQ will be the starting PG next year. He'll be a Junior, he's mature and is just going to get better. I'd love to have both Newman and Blakeney but if I had to choose based the rankings, the interviews I've seen and the film that I've watched (which is just a little), I'd choose Blakeney over Newman. Blakeney just looks super explosive and has an incredible jump shot. He also seems like he has a great attitude (not a knock on Morgan, just that Blakeney looks really special). If we get both, I wouldn't be surprised at some point next year to see TQ, Blakeney and Morgan starting with Hornsby, Patterson and Gray coming off the bench. That would be awesome guard depth.

not disagreeing, but so is newman. newman is actually ranked ahead of blakeney on every recruiting site.

Do you really think that Mickey's draft evaluation will rest solely on four games? What about the 20+ prior to where he was clearly LSU's most consistent and probably best all around player? These four games are simply a slump that won't affect his draft evaluation one way or the other. By your logic, Martin shouldn't be considered viable draft prospect either due to the fact that UNTIL these last 4-5 games he had a propensity to completely disappear in big moments late in games. Also, except for the occasional charge, he still plays very lazy defense. For the first time in his LSU career we're starting to see Martin play up to the potential that everyone thought he had coming in to LSU. He very well may be playing himself into a first round draft pick and I for one hope that play continues. But to think that Mickey has no chance of getting drafted simply because his is struggling right now is ridiculous.

Martin AND Mickey are back up's at best in the n.b.a. Martin does have starter potential at the three position. He has to develop a better outside shot. Martin isn't strong enough to be a post player in the n.b.a.

Mickey is 6' 8" at best. He's a 4 at the next level. He would be facing much taller and stronger guy's at that position in the n.b.a. I can see him as a sub on some teams but not a starter. Just not strong enough, tall enough, nor does he have good post skills or ball handling skills. He's a spot up 10-15 ft jumper 4 who can't handle the ball. He's a fantastic college player, just not an n.b.a. player.

Both can fill it up. Newman jumps backwards on his shots to create space. Looks awkward but he makes it work. Malik also has a far better supporting cast around him. He has a 6'10" and a 6'7" guy that are both major college prospects. Also, a guard (Summerville i think) that is a very good parimeter shooter. You won't see Malik score 65 pts like Blakney because he doesn't have to.

who is this "morgan" you speak of?

and i also think blakeney will be special but idk about why anybody thinks he is noticably ahead of newman. imho, newman is the real deal. like top 5 pick in the draft next year next to simmons good. blakeney might be a 2 year lsu player, especially with all the talent around him.

Can they play together? Blakeney seems like your typical SG where Newman has been called a combo guard.

dude. What?

i question where everybody gets their information from as far as newman goes
. just because he shot a fadeaway on one shot in a highlight video of him doesnt mean he shoots backwards..

im being unbiased but everybody should know, malik newman is better than blakeney. and im a huge blakeney and lsu fan.

Please make this happen.

Even if we lost M&M, we'd have Quarterman, Blakeney, Newman, Simmons, and whoever else (Gray, Patterson, Hornsby, Victor, etc)
