Fun things to do in Houston

My sister mentioned coming to visit for a mini vacation. She asked if there were any fun things to do here
I mentioned the museums of natural science, fine arts and the Holocaust. She was not amused
She'll probably bring my 5 year old niece, so I guess kid friendly stuff. All I can think of is schlitterbahn in Galveston
I was like surely we have fun stuff to do here in a city of 5 million people that's supposed to be so great. I mean, Nola has the aquarium, insectarium and other cool kids places
Maybe Nola >>>>> Houston

tell her to go and wander around the spec's mothership for a bit. that's all i got, the kid would just have to deal with it.

People from the area (eg kids that go to LSU from here) overrate it for sure. It does have better restaurants/cuisine than people realize though.

Broken record but children's museum is best I have seen and zoo is pretty cool. Unique experience would be to go to Brazos bend park and walk the paths - will see a ton of gators all around you. (And sometimes on te trail). Pretty neat. You pass George ranch on the way if you go Sugar Land route if cowboy stuff is of interest
